Carolyn Traphane Annett Laxson || Obituary
Carolyn Traphane Annett Laxson, 79 of Powderly, passed away on Nov. 11, 2023.
A graveside service has been set for Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at Forest Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home from 9 – 11 a.m. prior to the service.
Carolyn Annett was born on Oct. 29, 1944, in Paris to Florence Annett, a “Rosie The Riveter” Carolyn graduated from Plainview High School. After graduation, she moved to Dallas where she went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, where she was a switchboard operator when JFK was assassinated. She had to clear the switchboard and connect officials to the Whitehouse. During her time of employment with the telephone company, she had the privilege to speak with Chef Boyardee on numerous occasions. During Carolyn’s time in Dallas, she met and married Henry Doyel Laxson. They had two sons, Tommy D. Laxson, born on Oct. 21, 1964, and Doyel Keith Laxson, born on March 13, 1968. She went to work at Lewisville ISD until her children were old enough to take care of themselves. In 1978 she moved to Flowermound and went to work for Texas Instruments, writing program manuals for the US Military Branch. An achievement there was creating the launch mission manual for the HARM missile program. From there, she retired and lived in Flowermound until 2013, then moved to her parents’ place in Powderly until her passing.
She is survived by her son, Keith Laxson; her best friend since childhood, Omega. She was preceded in death by her mother; son, Tommy D. Laxson in 2000; and grandchild, Cody D. Laxson in 2017.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Keith Laxson, Tony Annett, Mike Wolverton, and Bobby Morgan.
