Cole Sain announces candidacy for Lamar County Tax Assessor in the 2024 election

Cole Sain, a Lamar County native and seasoned law enforcement professional, proudly announces his candidacy for Lamar County Tax Assessor in the upcoming 2024 election. With a deep commitment to serving his community and a proven track record of leadership, Cole Sain aims to bring his experience to the position of Lamar County Tax Assessor.

Born and raised in Chicota, Cole Sain’s roots run deep in Lamar County. After graduating from North Lamar ISD, he pursued his passion for Criminal Justice at North East Texas Community College, where he completed the Police Academy Program and earned his Peace Officer Certification in 2004.

Cole’s extensive career in law enforcement includes notable roles at the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office and the Paris Police Department. His dedication and leadership were recognized with awards such as the Service Award from the Paris Police Department in 2012 and the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office Officer of the Year award in 2015.

Throughout his career, Cole excelled in various roles, culminating in his promotion to Lieutenant over the Criminal Investigation Division at the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office in 2017. His expertise expanded to include Financial Crimes Investigations, Felony Property Crimes, Crimes Against Persons, and Crime Scene Management.

In addition to his law enforcement achievements, Cole has been a proactive member of the community, engaging in speaking engagements to raise awareness about financial crime-based scams and collaborating with various agencies for the enforcement and prosecution of crimes. He received advanced training in Fingerprint Comparison and Identification, earning recognition as an Expert by the 6th, 62nd, and 102nd District Courts of the State of Texas.

Cole’s commitment to public safety extends beyond his professional life. In 2019, he became a certified Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Trainer, contributing to the training of law enforcement, EMS, and fire department personnel on responding to active shooter threats. “I’ve spent my career keeping Lamar County safe, and now I’m excited to bring my skills and dedication to a new role as Lamar County Tax Assessor,” said Cole. “I believe in serving the community and ensuring the well-being of its residents. My experience has taught me the importance of efficient and fair taxation, and I am committed to upholding those principles in the Tax Assessor’s office.”

“After Haskell Maroney’s retirement, the office of Tax Assessor will be the only county office without armed personnel,” said Sain. “Which the county would soon have to hire to fill that need. By Electing me as your Tax Assessor, you will also be electing me to protect this building and, therefore, save the taxpayers of Lamar County thousands of dollars.”

Cole Sain is not just a dedicated public servant but also a devoted family man. Married to Sarah Coyle Sain, the couple shares two children, Indie and Ruby. Cole and Sarah actively support their daughters’ pursuits, with Indie excelling in academics and the Color Guard at Paris High School, and Ruby showcasing her talents in art, swimming, basketball, and golf.

As Lamar County heads to the polls on March 5, with early voting from February 20 through March 1, Cole Sain seeks the support of his fellow Lamar County residents to bring his passion, experience, and commitment to the role of Lamar County Tax Assessor.

Cole will be hosting a Campaign Kick-Off event at the Burnout lot in Downtown Paris, (124 S. Main Street) on Tuesday, Nov. 14, from 4-7 pm. The event will feature live music by Micheal O’Neal and appetizers by Crawford’s Hole in the Wall Café. This kick-off event is open to the public.
