Barbara Norwood Smith || Obituary

Barbara Norwood Smith age 88 of Cunningham passed away, surrounded by family, on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023. Barbara graduated from Cunningham High School in 1953 and accomplished her life-long dream of becoming an LVN in 1974. Barbara retired from McCuistion Hospital in Paris in 1997. Barbara was a lively spirit, who put a smile on everyone’s face she met and loved to dance. She adored her family and was especially proud of all of her grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Willie Clay Columbus Young Norwood and Foster Jack Norwood, and one brother, Billy Jack Norwood, and one sister, Gracie Maurene Wommack, and granddaughter Charlotte Smith.

She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Charles Ray Smith, her sister Claudie Doris Whitney, and her three children and spouses, son Victor Smith and his wife Shelby of Baileyton, GA, son Gordon Smith and his wife Cindy of Flower Mound, and daughter Teresa Harmon and her husband Henry of Texarkana. She is survived by her six grandchildren Kevin Smith, Casey Smith, Jade Smith, Ryan Smith, Dalton Harmon, Caitlan Smith, and Jessica Harmon. She had six great-grandchildren Bradley Smith, Jaylyn Smith, Kennedy Smith, Charlie Smith, Luke Smith, and June Smith. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive family and friends at Bright-Holland Funeral Home in Paris on Nov. 16th at 10 a.m. The graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. at Meadowbrook Gardens Cemetery in Paris.
