Billy Edward Halliday, Jr.


Billy Edward Halliday, Jr., 73 of Paris, passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023.

Funeral services have been set for Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Dr. Danny Moody officiating.  Interment will follow at Long Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time.

Billy was born on Aug. 30, 1950, in Galveston to Billy E. Halliday, Sr. and Helen Binnion Halliday.  He married Deanna Halliday on May 9, 1969, in Paris.  Billy retired from UARCO and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.  He was a member of East Paris Baptist Church where he drove the church bus, assisted with the offering, served as a Greeter, and cooked breakfast for seniors.  He was an active member of Kiwanis having received the Kiwanian of the Year award.  He put out flags, loved to cook pancakes, and built ramps for those in need.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna Halliday; children, Jeffery Halliday, Sr., Richard Scott Halliday and wife Danae; grandchildren, Jeffery Halliday, Jr., Ashley Shugart and husband Corey, Brandon Halliday, Dylan Halliday; numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Gay Halliday.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Mike Halliday.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Lynn Patterson, Jimmy Steed, Johnny Williams, Thom Callaway, Dave Patty, and Michael Woodson.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Kiwanis Club.

The family would like to thank Brentwood Terrace, Platinum Hospice and Rachael Wood, hospice nurse for her outstanding care, East Paris Baptist Church for heartfelt acts of kindness shown to our family, as well as the Kiwanis Club.
