Michael Dee Kitchens, 55, of Pecan Gap passed away Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, as the result of a motor vehicle accident.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, at Martin Memorial Methodist Church in Detroit. Interment will follow at Detroit Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Mike was born Oct. 18, 1968, in Paris, a son to Timothy “Tim” Kitchens and Deborah Cole Drake Williamson. Mike met the love of his life, Kristin Ann Byers in 1985 and they later married in May 1996. Mike and Kristin were married for 27 years. They had one daughter, Michaela.

Mike had a passion for music and was a self-taught musician. He worked hard raising golden retrievers and took pride in his family farm. He loved his dogs, his Dallas Cowboys and fantasy football.

He was preceded in death by his father, Timothy Kitchens, stepfather, Don Drake, brother, Billy Kitchens, a sister, Becki Drake Whisenhunt, his mother-in-law, Phyllis Byers and nephew, Kristopher Byers.

He is survived by his love, Kristin; and daughter, Michaela; his mother, Deborah; brother, James Drake and wife Jessica; nephews and nieces, Will, Cody, Rocky, and Paris Drake; brother-in-law, Brian Whisenhunt; and nephews, Bryce, Brody Brennan and Brooks.  Also surviving is his father-in-law, P.R. Byers; brother-in-law, Ronald Byers and wife Allison; sister-in-law, Deborah Byers; nieces, Courtney Peugh and husband Preston; Happy More and husband Michael; great-nephew, Gattlin Peugh; great-niece, Sophie Moore.

Pallbearers will be James Drake, Cody, Will and Rocky Drake, Phillip Chappell, Lynn Bush, Josh Flanery and Billy Miller.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Daniel Keehoe, Jon David Imge, Dr. Ray Coleman, Kyle Berry and Chris White.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Jan-Kay Ranch, 436 PR 5001; Detroit, Texas 75436.
