Rev. Randall Kent Scott


Rev. Randall Kent Scott, 80, of Paris, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023.

Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled memorial services for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4th at East Paris Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Gunter, Rev. Allan Hubbard, and Rev. Ed Miller officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Randall, the son of Ocie Scott & Audie Mae Nipper Scott, was born Sept. 23, 1943, in Wellington.

He grew up in Wellington and graduated from Wellington High School. He went on to Wayland Baptist College in Plainview followed by Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth where he received his Masters’s Degree. While a junior in high school Randall joined the National Guard. After high school graduation, he went to California for six months with the National Guard followed by eight years of weekend duty. He filled in for preachers at numerous Baptist churches before Seminary and while in Seminary he & Pat attended Northside Baptist Church in Ft. Worth where he was Associate Pastor and anything else that needed to be done. After graduation he was called to First Baptist Church of Meridian for 2 and one half years, then First Baptist Church of Hart for 2 years. Randall and Pat were then called to Seventh and Main Baptist Church in Bonham where they spent 5 years and then on to First Baptist Church of McGregor. They were then called to Immanuel Baptist Church in Paris where they served that congregation for 26 years.

Randall belonged to the Singing Men of Texas, held an office with the Baptist General Convention of Texas, and Paris Community Choir, and was a hospital chaplain.

He enjoyed pheasant hunting and fly fishing in Red River, New Mexico, where he felt closest to God. When his grandchildren were older, he and Pat would take them to Red River, NM, where they fished and had a grand time.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia “Pat” Lusk Scott, whom he married on Aug. 29, 1965, building 58 years of family and memories, two sons, Brian Scott & wife Mandy and Cary Scott & wife Natasha, grandchildren, Ryan Scott, Trevor Scott, Avery Scott, Parker Scott, Addison Lathrom, Isabella Lathrom, and Breelyn Lathrom, and siblings, Tawana McCutchen & husband Bobby, Reggie Scott & wife Barbara, and Kathy Aldridge & husband Dave along with numerous nieces & nephews and a plethora of friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Wayland Baptist University, 1900 W. 7th, Plainview, TX 79072.

The family would like to thank Brentwood Terrace & Rachel Wood from Platinum Hospice, for the excellent care they provided Randall.
