Lamar County Sheriff’s Office reports new phone scam in the area

The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office was recently made aware of a new phone scam in the county.
The caller is pretending to be the Sheriff of Lamar County, a Sheriff’s Deputy Sergeant, or a Sheriff’s Deputy and is telling citizens that they didn’t show up for Federal Court and they now have felony charges or a pending warrant.
The caller is also threatening to involve the US Marshal’s Office in conducting an arrest on the citizen.
