David Lester Furgason, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023, at his home in Paris.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel at Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 19th at 12 p.m. with Rev. Doug Holt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Burial to follow at Union Grove Cemetery in Reno.

David was born Oct. 17, 1950 in Colville, Washington to Loris J. Furgason and Birttle Ella Dolson Furgason. He graduated from Garland High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. He married Linda Dickerson in 1981. He retired from Erath County where he was a heavy equipment operator. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan and loved to have “football talk” with his great-grandsons. David was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Stephenville.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Loris and Birttle Furgason, wife Linda Furgason, and brother, Jay Furgason.

He is survived by his sisters Theresa Wood, Christine Hankins, Deborah Furgason, Ralene Bartlett, Kimberly Stringer and husband James. Daughters, Regina Furgason and fiance Chadwick Bush, Sheryl Hodges and husband Rick, Larina Estrada and fiance Louis Loftice, Kerri Sharp and husband Lane, and son, Kevin Tatum and wife Sheila. Grandchildren Meagan Brown and husband Zach, Clayton Thomas, Heather Smith and husband Wyatt, Kristen & Lauren Hodges, Jasmin Estrada, Shelby Sharp and wife Christina, Logan Sharp and wife Brylie, Tatum Clark and husband Jon, Tristen, Trevor, and Treyden Tatum. Great grandchildren, Garrett and Ridge Brown, Andon Smith, Lottie, Lilley, Watson, and Crew Sharp, and a host of extended family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Clayton Thomas, Zach Brown, Garrett Brown, Chadwick Bush, Michael Wood, and Bryant Daniels. Honorary pallbearers are Patrick Christian, Blane Smith, and James Stringer.
