Beverly Jean (Gilbert) Snyder || Obituary
Beverly Jean (Gilbert) Snyder, 92, of Greensburg, PA passed peacefully into eternity with family by her side in Blossom on July 3, 2023.
Beverly was born on Aug. 23, 1930, in Mankato, MN and spent her childhood in Le Sueur, MN. In 1946, her family moved to Minneapolis where she completed high school and attended the University of Minnesota at St. Paul earning a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics. She did her internship at the University of Oregon Medical School Hospital and Clinics in Portland, OR later becoming a member of the American Dietetic Association.
After completing her internship, Beverly moved to Baltimore, MD to work at Sinai Hospital. There she attended the Tower Club where she met J. Rush Snyder and was married on August 13, 1955. They were married for 67 years.
In 1956, Beverly and Rush moved to Greensburg, PA where Beverly was a Registered Dietitian at Westmoreland Hospital. She also assisted Rush as secretary for Tooling Specialists, Inc. in Latrobe, PA which they sold in 1968. She continued as a clinical and consulting dietician for several area hospitals and nursing homes until retirement in 1995.
Beverly was led to the Lord by Rush and her faith in Jesus was evident in the way she cared for family, and friends and served in her local church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and planning travel adventures to all 50 states and Europe. They wintered at Bibleville in Alamo until their energy level declined.
She is preceded in death by her husband J. Rush Snyder; her parents Beth (Boss) Gilbert, Howard Roy Gilbert; and great-granddaughter Kamryn. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Ann (Gilbert) Tischer of Eau Claire, WI; four children, Jay R. (Jean) Snyder of Ephrata, PA; Jean R. (Stanley) McMahan of Blossom; John G. (Bonnie) Snyder of Sandy Hook, KY; and Jill R. (James) Knerr of Pensacola, FL. Also 11 grandchildren, Julie (Matthew) Runkle; Justin; James; Jared; Lauren; Johnathan; Kristen (Randy) Brady; Patricia; Erin; Benjamin; Ryan and eight great-grandchildren, Emilia; Lyric; Wyatt; Everett; Evelyn; Weston; Charley; and Lanora.
A memorial gathering for both Beverly and Rush is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 13, 2023, with interment in the Snyder-Hendricks family cemetery, near Shenandoah Junction, WV. In memory of Beverly, consider a donation to Teen Quest, Somerset, PA or Bibleville Conference Grounds, Alamo, TX. Cremation was under the care and direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home.
