Bryan Slaton, former Texas House Representative for District 2, resigned Monday. District 2 includes Hunt, Hopkins, and Van Zandt counties.  House representatives are elected officials.
On Tuesday the Texas House unanimously voted to expel Bryan Slaton, one day after he submitted his resignation after an internal investigation determined that he had sex with a 19-year-old aide after providing her with so much alcohol that she felt dizzy and had double vision.
After a solemn, sometimes angry and tearful recounting of Slaton’s “graphic” and “offensive” behavior, the House voted 147-0 for expulsion, making Slaton the first member of the Texas Legislature to be removed from office since 1927
Over the weekend, the House General Investigative Committee released a 16-page report on the scandal and recommended his expulsion.
In one of his final legislative motions, Slaton filed HB 4129, a ban on erotic performances, including drag shows, in the presence of minors.
Slaton wrote on a social media post promoting the bill. “The State has a duty to protect kids from being sexually exploited, and HB 4129 is the most comprehensive bill to stop the sexualization of kids by these performances”
