Clarksville Chief of Police and Sergeant terminated || Given dishonorable discharges
On Monday night, April 17, 2023, at a special city council meeting, Chief Mark Gable and Sergeant Jerry Goodson were both terminated and given dishonorable discharges for their service to the city of Clarksville. The council vote to terminate was six to two with Lyntrevion Scott and James Ellis as the two opposing votes.
Chief Gable stated, “Thanks to the council members that had mine and Sergeant Goodson’s back throughout this fiasco. Thank you to Lyntrevion G Scott, and Mr. Ellis it was my honor to protect and serve your Wards and the citizens from all the other words in Clarksville.”
Chief Gable went on to say, “To the citizens of Clarksville, I implore you to get involved in your city government. It is time for a change and the only way to stop what happened is for the citizens to step up and run against the sitting council members and to vote them out of office.”
With the removal of Gable and Goodson the city will now only have one active officer. “The mayor and some council members may have felt some semblance of victory last night, but the only winners in this situation will be the lawyers that will be getting paid. It’s the people of Clarksville who lost last night. I only pray this gives the people of Clarksville the momentum to reign in their local government,” said Officer Goodson.
