Leston Maggard of Powderly || Obituary

Leston Maggard, 89, of Powderly, passed away Friday, April 14, 2023, at Stillhouse Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 2 p.m. Monday, April 17 at the Pavilion of Red Hill Cemetery with Bro. Jared Baggett officiating.

Mr. Maggard, the son of Woodrow Maggard & Willie Moore Maggard, was born Oct. 19, 1933.

On June 2, 1951, he married Lareece Brackeen, building 71 years of family and memories. 

Leston was an electrician, working mainly for Stripland Heat & Air in Paris. He was a faithful member of the Lamar Avenue Church of Christ. He was honorably discharged from the military after serving in the National Guard.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a son, Greg Maggard, two infant sons, Terry Maggard and Michael Maggard, three sisters, Dora Ingle, Doris Kelley, and Joyce Conder, and one brother, Stanley Maggard.

Survivors include his wife, Lareece, two grandsons, Will Maggard and Paul Maggard, four great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews along with a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Lamar Avenue Church of Christ, 3535 Lamar Ave., Paris, TX 75460, or to the charity of one’s choice.
