North Lamar automotive skills students headed to state competition

North Lamar High School recently announced that five of its students have advanced to the state level in automotive skills. Jace Brown, Johnathan Fitzgerald, Alexander Russell, Drew McNeal, and Herman Klassen competed in various categories at the SkillsUSA.

Jace Brown won 1st place in Marine Service, while Johnathan Fitzgerald secured 1st place in Mobile Electronics Installation. Alexander Russell excelled in both Automotive Service Technology and Motorcycle Service Technology, earning 1st place in both categories. Drew McNeal showed his skills in Diesel Equipment and Power Equipment and was awarded 1st place in both categories. Herman Klassen also impressed the judges with his skills in Aviation Maintenance Technology and earned 1st place.

In addition, the students competed in the Automotive Service Quiz Bowl as a team and won 1st place. Chancellor Bivens and Kayden Sharp served as alternates in the Quiz Bowl competition. Chancellor and Kayden also participated in the Freshmen events, Automotive Light Maintenance and Tool I.D. test, which will help them prepare for next year’s competition.

The students will now move on to the SkillsUSA State Competition, which will be held in Corpus Christi from March 29 to April 2. The school administration and faculty are proud of the students’ achievements and wish them the best of luck at the state level.
