Marquez named new Area VI FFA President || Content sponsored by Quality Care ER
Junior Madeleine Marquez of the Detroit Independent School District FFA Chapter was recently named the new Area VI FFA President.
Marquez will serve over 92 local schools in Northeast Texas and over 17,000 FFA members. She will also act as a voting delegate at the 2023 National FFA Convention and on State and Area Leadership Committees as she begins her year of service.
The process to run for president began in December of 2022 with an extensive application, then on to an interview with eight agriculture teachers in January along with a test over FFA knowledge, parliamentary procedure, current ag and farm topics.
The final task was on Feb. 27, 2023, when Marquez gave a 5-minute speech to more than 1,000 people at the Area VI FFA Convention in Sulphur Springs. The office of president is voted on by peers from the 92 schools voting delegates.
Before this honor, Marquez served as the 2022-23 Paris District FFA President. She is very active in Leadership and Career Development Events in FFA, where she has qualified for state in Junior Prepared Public Speaking, Greenhand Creed Speaking, Senior Creed Speaking, and Horse Judging. She shows and trains horses which is her FFA Supervised Agricultural Experience Program.
Marquez is the daughter of Eduardo and Cheryl Marquez. Her term of service is for 2023-24.
