Janet Kay Pryor-Morrison


Janet Kay Pryor-Morrison passed away at age 60 at the home of her loving sister and caregiver, Jan Campbell, on March 2, 2023, in San Antonio where she had resided for the last eight months.

Janet Kay was born in Paris, Texas, to James A. and Mildred Pryor on Nov. 16, 1962. She graduated from North Lamar High School in 1981 and attended the University of Texas in Tyler, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She was a certified oncology nurse at Texas Oncology in Tyler before her illness and still had colleagues from there checking on her.
Janet Kay lived with her niece and nephew, Traci and Harold Watkins, in Cooper while transitioning from the nursing field. She most recently worked in Tyler.

Janet Kay battled breast cancer for several years, which recently advanced to Stage IV with malignant pleural effusion and bone metastasis, to which she succumbed.

Janet Kay had one son, Stephen Morrison, who preceded her in death in 2020.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Sonny Pryor, a sister Wanda
Hanna, and a sister Norma Brooks.

She is survived by her sisters Jan Campbell of San Antonio, Texas, and Gerry Biggs of
Longview and brothers Eddie Pryor and wife Helen of Clarksville and Don Pryor and Kandice of Paris as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

“We want to thank Gentiva Hospice of San Antonio, especially Beverly, the volunteer who had her caught up on her weekly Bible verses, Roy, RN, and Chaplain Jarrell.”

The family will schedule a private inurnment service at a later date as per Janet Kay’s wishes; her body will be cremated.
