Lamar County Sheriff’s Office warns residents of new phone scam

The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office has received several reports about a new phone scam. The caller is advising he is Sgt. Jones or Sgt. Johnson and that there is a warrant for your arrest for missing jury duty.

He is advising you to go and get money in various amounts and keep him on the phone while you get the money.

The Sheriff’s Office will not call you about a warrant or ask for any money. Please beware of any calls of this nature.
