Joseph Sean Whitaker of Azle || Obituary

Joseph Sean Whitaker, 55, of Azle, passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Benny Dollins officiating. Burial will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery with Richard Sikes, Gerald Beshirs, Justin Payne, Josh Payne, Timmy Michaels and Ronny Michaels serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Stacy Jumper, Bill Slagle and William Gentle. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.

He was born on Nov. 17, 1967, in Paris a son of Melvin and Shirley Whitaker. He worked in oil fields in West Texas. He served in the Texas National Guard. Sean enjoyed fishing, hunting and cooking. He especially enjoyed being a Pap-Pap to his 4 grandchildren.

Sean was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Jones; son, Coby Whitaker and nephew, Jason Payne.

He is survived by his daughter, Malorie Baker and spouse, Terry Baker; grandchildren, Trey Baker, Haelyn Whitaker, Ceelee Baker and Coby Lakyn Baker; brothers, David Whitaker and wife, Deneen, and Marcus Whitaker and wife, Alicia; sisters, Monica Lawler and Greg Lawler, and Kathy Brown and William Gentle and numerous nephews and nieces.
