The Paris Police Department has released body-worn camera footage of an encounter between Paris police officer, Derek Belcher and Lamar County resident, Joey Carico.
We can not air the footage as the language is against our page rules. On Jan. 2 according to the video, Carico was pulled over by Officer Belcher because of a lewd hand gesture. The two exchanged words and as Carico was leaving the scene, Belcher said, “Tell your son hello.”
Carico’s son, Coco Carico was involved in an officer shooting in June of 2021.
Paris Police Officer Derek Bristow approached Coco Carico and his girlfriend, Kayla, at their home on Smallwood Road in Reno. After speaking with Kayla, who initially lied about Carico’s whereabouts before admitting he was inside. Carico eventually came to the door with a rifle and told officers he would “blow [his] brains out right in front of [them].”
Bristow and his partner ordered Carico to drop his weapon as Carico turned to go back inside his home. At that time, Bristow shot the man once in the back. Carico’s father soon showed up and Bristow used his TASER on the father. The shooting left Coco Carico paralyzed
According to Chief of Police, Richard Salter, “The officer’s conduct will be carefully evaluated against the Core Values and Policies of the Department. Pending the outcome of this review, the Department has placed the officer on paid administrative leave.”
Coco Carico is suing the city for $10 million. A court date of July 24, 2023, has been set in the Texas Eastern District Court with Judge Robert W. Schroeder overseeing.

Why?this idiot was rude obnoxious and vulgar. He should have been arrested for it. The cop made it clear he was free to leave.
It’s called the 1st amendment of the constitution, freedom of speech and freedom to redress your government. This cop was unprofessional, aggressive and completely ignorant of the law and he needs to be fired immediately. The comment at the end of the video “tell your son we said hi” is absolutely disgusting. They shot this man’s son was just shot in the back by this department paralyzing him from the waste down, then when he shows up trying to check on his son he is tased and thrown into handcuffs. So him being upset is more than justified and it’s 1000% legal to flip off a cop and cuss a cop out thanks to the 1st amendment. If you don’t like the constitution then maybe move to another country. The founders of this country weren’t bootlickers like yourself thankfully.
Thank you for this post, Amilia is a bootlicker for sure who knows nothing about the United States constitution. Flipping off a police officer or cussing at them isn’t a crime, we have a right to make our displeasure and distrust known, it’s the 1st amendment.
Arrested for free speech??? You are a complete moron!
Obnoxious and vulgar are not crimes. Being a bootlicker who doesn’t value the Constitution isn’t a crime either, which is a good thing for you.
Being “rude, obnoxious, and vulgar” is not a crime
Amilia, it’s statements like this that are probably the reason you don’t have a career. You saw the same video we did. Mr. Carcio’s behavior was saintlike in the face of attempted provocation by Officer Belcher.
Since you seem to be mentally defective, memorize the following information in order to avoid endangering your employment prospects further by speaking what you laughably call your mind: “Nothing in that video that was said by Mr. Carcio was an incorrect interpretation of the events of the day, and he should be commended for not resorting to violence in spite of Officer Belcher’s numerous requests to be rightfully and justifiably made to cease speaking through the application of basic physics. Mr. Carcio has anger sufficient to utterly destroy the city I call home, and I thank God for every day he permits the rest of us to live here in peace.”
Disgusting actions by Paris Police Department and their untrained officers. I bet they let this little punk officer stay on their corrupt force. End Qualified Immunity!
“Tell your se WE say hi.” Meaning Belcher is speaking for the entire Paris PD. Belcher should absolutely be fired and discredited. Imagine if it was the other way around, if it was the father of a paralyzed police officer. Terrible. Belcher clearly has small man syndrome also. 60 year old virgin.
