Wanda Ray Rhoades was born in Blossom, Texas, November 24, 1939 to parents John and Jessie (Davenport) Freelen.

She was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Detroit and retired from Sealed Air after 23 years of service. She had a “green thumb” and nurtured many plants and also people. She was loved by her family.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Trina Dean LaFond and her husband, Phillip. grandchildren; Billy LaFond, Andrew LaFond, Alan Young, Jason Chambers, and Mandy Chambers; sisters, Johnnie Lou Rains and Geraldine Sprools and husband, James Lloyd Sprools; sisters-in-law, Lila Freelen and Delores Freelen as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Arvin Dean Rhoades; daughter, Rhonda Faye Young; brothers, J.T. Freelen, Loyd Wayne Freelen, Jerry Lane “Butch” Freelen; sisters, Elsie Mae Johnson, Louise Freelen, Rebecca Jo “Becky” Farris and Irene Freelen.

Funeral Service: Saturday, January 7th at 1:00 p.m. at Fry Gibbs Funeral Home with visitation 1 hour prior. Burial to follow at Knights of Honor Cemetery in Blossom.
