Choctaw County inmate escapes for second time || On the run in East Texas
Two inmates were reported missing during a headcount on Christmas morning from the Raymond Detention Center in Raymond, Mississippi. Tyler Payne and Traverro McElroy were last seen pushing a van into Lake Fork off of Texas Highway 154 according to witnesses. Payne and McElroy then got into a silver or white Toyota or Honda.
According to Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones, “it appears that the inmates escaped through a damaged door.” Just last month Payne and a different inmate escaped through the Choctaw County Jail roof. Jones went on to say the van that was fished out of the lake is the best lead they have for now and he believes someone is helping the men.
Payne was charged with armed carjacking and will face additional charges once captured.
Payne is considered dangerous. If you see Payne or know anyone who knows his whereabouts, contact local law enforcement.
