Farmer charged with three counts of felony assault || NLISD responds with firing
On Oct. 17, 2022, the North Lamar ISD administration received reports of misconduct by April Farmer, an instructional aide at Parker Elementary School.
The administration immediately suspended Farmer, removed her from school property, and notified the NLISD police department. NLISD police immediately launched an investigation.
District personnel also notified Child Protective Services, the State Board for Educator Certification, and the Lamar County District Attorney’s office. After confirming the facts in the reports, NLISD Superintendent Kelli Stewart terminated Farmer’s employment.
“This employee was fired as soon as I confirmed the allegations of misconduct. I assure all parents that North Lamar ISD prioritizes the safety of our students above all else. NLISD has zero tolerance for any behavior that threatens the safety of any child,” said Stewart.
Stewart further stated that NLISD is fully cooperating with all agencies involved with the incident.
On Oct. 26, after obtaining an arrest warrant, NLISD police arrested Farmer on three felony charges of injury to a child or disabled person.
