On Nov. 1 an Amber Alert was issued for 1-year-old Leylani Ordonez of Rosenberg. The child was abducted by her father, Alexander Barrios Ordonez, 24.

The infant was fatally stabbed and the owner of Riverside Towing/Auto Collision in Rosenberg, his former employer, was stabbed multiple times. Ordonez then turned the knife on himself, stabbing himself to death.
The Rosenberg Police Department said in a news conference filmed by KHOU. “He drove the stolen truck to the apartment where his daughter was being watched by a babysitter. He ”forcefully”/abducted Leylani just after 6 p.m. and fled,”  The Amber Alert was issued for the infant less than three hours later, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Sugarland Police spotted the stolen tow truck around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, and attempted a traffic stop. Rosenberg police said at the news conference, Ordonez refused to stop, setting off an hour-long chase, police said. The chase ended near Rosenberg after he drove over spike strips that police had put down.
”We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that transpired,” Rosenberg Police Chief Jonathan White said in the release. “Our thoughts are with Leylani Ordonez’s family and we wish those affected at Riverside Towing a speedy recovery.” Rosenberg is about 40 miles southwest of Houston.
