Scott Peterson moved off death row

After the California Supreme Court overturned his death sentence for killing his pregnant wife and unborn son two decades ago, Scott Peterson has been moved off of death row.
Peterson was moved to Mule Creek State Prison from San Quentin State Prison last week. He will serve the remainder of his life sentence without parole there.
His new mug shot shows a different look than the clean-shaven appearance the public is used to, as now he has salt-and-pepper stubble.
Peterson was convicted of the first-degree murder of Laci Peterson and the second-degree murder of their unborn son, Conner, after dumping them in San Francisco Bay on Christmas Eve 2002. He was sentenced to death in 2005.
The sentence was overturned by the state’s high court in Aug. 2020 after they found that potential jurors had been erroneously dismissed because they claimed they personally disagreed with the death penalty which was eventually imposed on Peterson.
Currently, a state judge is considering if Peterson is worthy of a new trial after the state Supreme Court justices separately claimed that the jury could have been tainted by a biased juror. It is said that the juror, Richelle Nice, did not disclose relevant information on her juror questionnaire and was biased.
He was kept at San Quinten throughout the hearing process which lasted about a month so that he would have better access to his attorneys.
