Early voting starts today || What to bring
Early voting for the 2022 midterm elections is here. Texans will cast their votes for various congressional, state and local elected officials. Before you head to the polls, we’re here to help you know your rights as a voter and the rules about what you can bring and wear.
- Voter ID: You’ll need one of seven types of valid photo ID to vote in Texas: a state driver’s license, a Texas election identification certificate, a Texas personal identification card, a Texas license to carry a handgun, a U.S. military photo ID card, a U.S. citizenship certificate with a photo or a U.S. passport.
- Attire: Campaigning is forbidden within 100 feet of a polling place, which means voters cannot wear clothing or other items that publicize candidates, political parties, or measures on the ballot.
- Assistance: Voters can choose an individual to help them with interpretation and completing their ballot at the polls. This can be a family member, friend, or someone else, as long as the person is not the voter’s employer or a representative of their union.
