Horizon House to host Toiletries Drive
September 19 through the 23, Horizon House Transitional Shelter is hosting a Toiletries Drive. “We’re asking for donations of toothpaste, razors, shampoo, conditioner, and soap. Items donated will be distributed to shelter residents when in need, and will also be put in our Outreach Bags, Care Closet, and Incentive Store, said Shelley Braziel, Executive Director.
Horizon House provided 1016 safe nights in August with our highest resident count at 35. Braziel went on to say “Currently, we’re housing 32 men, women, and children. Ablebodied residents of the shelter are required to work, look for work, or attend school. Individuals who are unable to work, still complete volunteer hours as a way to contribute and give back. But while each of our residents are working and/or saving up to find a place of their own, that takes time and items like shampoo, soap, and razors add up. That’s why we’re asking for your help.”
Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., items can be dropped off at Horizon House Transitional Shelter’s admin offices at 450 SW 4th Street i.n Paris or drop shipped to P.O. Box 714, Paris, Texas 75461.
“If you’re located in Paris and unable to come by, we’ll happily stop by your work to pick up. Just call us at 903/783-0353. Our goal is to provide individuals with the tools and support they need to never have a repeat occurance of homelessness, and we couldn’t do it without you.” – Shelley Braziel
