Samuel R. ‘Buddy’ Brown || Obituary

Samuel Reese “Buddy” Brown, age 93, passed away peacefully at his home on September 9, 2022, in Argo, TX.  He was born on May 22, 1929 in Tripp, TX to Jimmy Brown and Essie (Crabtree) Brown.

Buddy served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He retired from TUGCO after 15 years of employment as a dozier operator.  His passion in life was writing, producing, and singing his own music and raising livestock.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy and Essie Brown, Buddy was preceded in death by his infant son, Shane Brown, and sisters: Imogene Hartley, Helen Thomas, and Katheryn McCorkle.

Left to cherish Buddy’s memory is his loving family:  daughters, Lana Brown of Cookville, TX and Sharla Thompson of Mesquite, TX; grandchildren: Jenny Cooper, Heather Peterson, Jody Cooper, and Shea Thompson; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Dougherty of Galveston, TX; as well as other extended family.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church with interment to follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery. No formal visitation is scheduled.
