Freshwater Weekly Fishing Report Week of August 31, 2022
- Alan Henry
- FAIR. Water clear; 80 degrees; 8.94 feet low. Fishing patterns continue to be similar. Crappie are good 25-30 feet of water using live bait and jigs. Report provided by Randy Britton, Lake Alan Henry Crappie Guide.
- Amistad
- GOOD. Water clear; 83 degrees; 59.09 feet low. Channel catfish are great in 8-10 feet of water along the best along the edge of grass. stick ups and points with punch bait. White bass are slow to bite near the dam. Report by Captain Kent Terrill, 3T Guide Service. The lake level has risen with the recent rains and the Diablo East ramp has reopened. Bass are being caught on topwater baits in the morning. Move to the hydrilla grass when the sun is up using punch rigs and jigs. Report by Captain Olin Jensen, Jensen’s Guide Service.
- Arlington
- GOOD. Water lightly stained; 92 degrees; at pool. Bass are grouped up chasing bait on main lake points and off the end of docks. Fish can be caught all day by chasing schools of fish and throwing spoons and spooks. While the sun is high, focus under docks and in structure using flipping jigs, ribbon tail worms, and squarebill crankbaits. Report by local angler Wes Molina.
- Arrowhead
- GOOD. Water lightly stained; 83 degrees; 4.67 feet low. Catfish are good in deeper water drifting with fresh cut shad. Crappie are good at the Derrick’s, around the dam, and in brush piles 12-15 feet deep. No report on white bass or largemouth bass. Report by Brandon Brown, Brown’s Guide Service.
- Athens
- FAIR. Water clear; 85 degrees; 1.27 feet below. Evening microbursts are turning the bass bite on, dropping the temperature and pressure. Covering a lot of water fishing shallow and fast will be key as the bass transition into the fall pattern. Report by Jim Brack, Athens Guide Service.
- Austin
- FAIR. Water clear; 89 degrees; 0.59 feet low. Fish patterns are similar and should improve with the forecasted weather. Bass are biting on dropshots near creek mouths and brush piles, and small crankbaits on rock structures. Slow bite for crappie and white bass. Lady Bird Lake is fair for Bass are good with topwater frogs around the grass laydowns along the banks, swimbaits over the grass, and dropshot in deeper grass. - B.A. Steinhagen
- FAIR. Water stained; 83 degrees; 0.27 feet below. Bass are fair with dropshots and crankbaits along grass ledges. Crappie are fair using minnows and jigs on deeper main lake structures and brush piles. Catfish are good moving shallow biting cut and cheese bait.
- Bastrop
- GREAT. Water clear; 91 degrees. Work topwaters and small swimbaits around schools of bass blowing up the surface. Fish crankbaits and shaky heads down below the schools to get a lot of bites as well. Later, move offshore out from the dam and look for deeper schools of fish and drop small swimbaits or a jigging spoon to get some good bites there. Bass are good with schooling action the first couple hours after sunrise biting on clear topwater baits, then on points with shaky heads, small spoons and Alabama rigs with very small white grubs. - Belton
- GOOD. Water lightly stained; 83 degrees; 9.01 feet low. The lake is in a state of flux after the flood waters from heavy rain. Before the heavy rains the return of southerly winds triggered a strong morning white bass topwater bite. Fish were hitting MAL Original lures, rattling hard baits, and various poppers equally well. Fishing was best as the sun shone on the lake, and was hindered with any degree of cloud cover. The action lasted until around 10:15 A.M. Report by Bob Maindelle, Holding the Line Guide Service. - Benbrook
- SLOW. Water lightly stained; 80 degrees; 8.59 feet low. After the recent rains target freshwater currents for largemouth bass and catfish. Largemouth bass are fair in 8-20 feet of water points and rocks and standing timber with deep diving crankbaits and Texas rigged 10 inch worms. Catfish are good in standing timber under roosting birds and punch bait. Crappie continue to be good in standing timber in 14-25 feet of water with jigs, but best on minnows. - Bob Sandlin
- GOOD. Water clear; 85 degrees; at pool. Catfish are good on baited holes 15-20 feet of water using cheese bait. Crappie are fair on brush in 15-20 feet of water biting on minnow and jigs. Bass are good early and late in the evening on topwater frogs shallow. White bass good on midlake humps with slabs or minnows. Report by Marty Thomas, Lake O the Pines Crappie Fishing.
- Brady
- GOOD. Water dirty; 90 degrees; 10.50 feet low. Largemouth bass are fair on soft plastics and crankbaits in the salt cedars and rocks early and late. White bass are good, schooling all over the lake biting on crankbaits and topwaters. Crappie are slow around the marina. Catfish are good on cut bait or live perch on trotlines or jugs in 5-10 feet of water.
- Braunig
- FAIR. Water lightly stained, 89 degrees. Largemouth bass are fair along reed beds using chartreuse and gold spinner baits, or dark colored soft plastics. Red drum are good on live bait in the 10-20 feet of water and near the dam. Channel catfish have been good off the recreational shoreline and pier area on worms and frozen shrimp. Hybrid Strippers no report.
- Bridgeport
- GOOD. Water normal stain; 80 degrees; 6.91 feet low. Sand bass are surfacing around the lake early morning and late evening biting on small imitation shad. Crappie remain very good around the bridge and main lake structure, docks and brush piles using minnows and jigs. Largemouth bass continue to be good on topwater baits early in the day, moving to main lake points with deep water nearby using Texas rigged worms in pumpkin seed worked low and slow. - Brownwood
- SLOW. Water slightly stained; 83 degrees; 6.70 feet low. Bass are excellent to 6.88 pounds on jigs, shaky heads, Texas rig worms and crankbaits scattered around the rocky boulders 6-18 feet of water. Crappie to one pound are excellent on minnows 10-13 feet of water over brush piles. White bass are slow on crankbaits and jigs under the lights at night. Catfish are slow on prepared baits around baited holes and the flats.
- Bryan
- SLOW. Water normal stain; 90 degrees. Fishing will be slow for all species until the fall cool down begins. Catfish are slow on punch bait, and live or dead perch and goldfish. Crappie are slow on submerged structures off boat docks live minnows. Black bass are slow with the occasional catch using live minnows off Rocky Point, and the rocks under the bridge along the canal. - Buchanan
- GREAT. Water lightly stained; 81 degrees; 14.56 feet low. Largemouth can be caught good around rock piles and shallow vegetation throwing topwaters, 10 foot crankbaits or squarebills and soft plastics. To target striper, hybrids and white bass look for surface action and get there quickly, throwing a topwater walking style bait, wakebait or a number of different crankbaits to run through the schools. - Caddo
- SLOW. Water stained; 83 degrees; 0.54 feet above. Caddo has come up close to a foot, but continue to navigate with caution. Bass are good on topwaters early in the morning in the lily pads and grass in the shade of the river as the sun comes up. Texas rig or drop shot will produce once the sun comes up along the grass line in the river system or the bayou system. Enjoy the lily pad flowers are still out and the amazing sunsets and sunrises on this majestic body of water God spoke into existence. - Calaveras
- FAIR. Water lightly stained, 88 degrees. Recreational shoreline anglers seeing better catches on the far west shorelines and recreation areas. Boaters are seeing fair catches on small silver and gold spoons in the 15-25 feet of water. Blue and channel catfish are fair for boaters in 20-25 feet of water using cut and live baits. Days without wind have been tough for anglers.
- Canyon Lake
- GOOD. Water lightly stained; 84 degrees; 6.25 feet low. Bass are good with your favorite topwaters along grass and rocky points. Switch to dropshots and Ned rigs to bluff walls, and anywhere with tapering rocks in 12-18 feet of water. White bass and stripers are schooling by the dam first light biting topwaters, jigging spoons and small swimbaits. Crappie are best up the river with live minnows. - Cedar Creek
- EXCELLENT. Water normal stain; 81-84 degrees; 3.29 feet low. Fishing will be slower with the rain and cooler temperature, but they will still be biting. Crappie are good in brush piles in 12-16 feet of water and bridge pylons with minnows and small jigs. White bass hybrid bass are good with some fish surfacing biting topwater baits early in the morning on shallow humps and points. Once the sun comes up focus on deeper humps using spoons and trolling rigs. Largemouth bass are good using Texas rigged creature baits, buzzbaits and square bills in areas with freshwater, and shallow docks. Catfish are good on humps with live shad. - Choke Canyon
- GREAT. Water stained; 89 degrees; 22.32 feet low. Catfish are goodin 10-30 feet of water anchored near structure, drifting over the high spots, such as humps and points, along the river channel. Bass are good targeting clear water with Texas rigged worms, senkos and flukes in 8-10 feet of water, or flipping into grass and deeper hydrilla with a one ounce tungsten weight on your favorite plastics. There is a good topwater frog bite all over the lake early in the morning. River bite is good with topwater frogs and swim jigs around the grass. - Cisco
- GREAT. Water stained; 84 degrees; 7.05 feet low. Channel and flathead catfish are good on perch and frozen shad in 5-10 feet of water. Bass are fair along grass edges with crankbaits and topwaters. Report by Jason Miller, Lake Cisco Rentals.
- Coleman
- GOOD. Slightly stained; 85 degrees; 4.93 feet low. Crappie are good with jigs or minnows on brush piles. Hybrid striped bass are good on imitation. They are chasing bait fish all over the lake. Bass are good with fish to 6 pounds on a green pumpkin jigs, black blue jigs, shad color swim jigs.
- Conroe
- GOOD. Slightly stained; 89 degrees; 1.65 feet below. Catfish are good on shrimp and liver in depths of 17-22 feet of water. Hybrid striped bass have been in the same depth as the catfish and have been active on points just off of the main lake channel. Seeing quite a few big schools, but many of the fish have been in the 16-17 inch range. Report by Jimmy Laux, Jimmy’s Gone Fishing Guide Service. Crappie are slow to fair on minnows and jigs, with the bite improving depending on the day, in 14-22 feet of water on structure. The shad are small, so match your bait presentation to the shad size. Black Bass are in 9-22 feet of water close to or in structure biting on creature baits, crankbaits, swimbaits, close to or in structure. Stay hydrated in this heat and always wear your life jacket! - Cooper
- FAIR. Water lightly stained; 83 degrees. Fishing should improve after the cold front, but will definitely improve the temperature for cooler fishing. Catfish are good with juglines. White bass and hybrids are fair with large spoons. Crappie are slow on main lake brush piles and standing timber with jigs and minnows. Bass are fair along grass ledges and standing timber with crankbaits.
- Corpus Christi Lake
- GREAT. 86 degrees; 3.14 feet below. Catfish are great in shallow flooded grass on worms, shad, and soap baits. Largemouth bass are good on frogs in flooded grass. White bass are good holding in deeper water near the dam, with spoons, small jigs, and live minnows. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs over structure in 5-10 feet of water. - Cypress Springs
- Water stained; 86 degrees; 1.92 feet low. Fishing patterns are consistent fishing low light hours for bass and crappie. Dark colors lures around lighted areas will produce bites for the bass. Crappie prefer mid depth brush, if you have underwater lighting then you increase your bite substantially. The catfish are moving to a little deeper and cooler water in the mid 20 foot range in areas with a good wind blowing in on it.Your best bite will still be on prepared punch style baits over baited areas. - Eagle Mountain
- GOOD. Water normally stained, 83 degrees; 3.79 feet low. Fishing patterns are similar this week. White bass are fair to good on main lake structures using chartreuse and white slabs with teaser flies. Some anglers have reported good catches trolling Alabama-rigs and Hellpets. Crappie are fair to good on brush piles, docks and main lake structure on jigs or minnows and shooting docks. Blue catfish and channel catfish are fair to good on main lake structures on punch bait. - Falcon
- SLOW. Water stained; 90 degrees; 44.75 feet low. Bow fishing for gar is in shallow to mid depth water, the bite is fair with rod and reel. Catfish are good 10-20 mouths of creek and river channels cut bait, live perch. Report by Ram Reyes, Texas Kings Outdoors.
- Fayette
- FAIR. Water lightly stained; 89 degrees. Much needed rain continues to be in the forecast. Bass are fair in 10-20 feet of water on humps and rip rap throwing various jigs and plastics. Catfish are good, hitting punch bait in 12-20 feet of water on tight lines over chum. Bluegill and redear perch are fair on worms and crickets around structures. - Fork
- GOOD. Water Stained; 83 degrees; 5.56 feet low. Bass are good early in the morning on topwaters and spinner tails in 1-3 feet of water, then in 5-7 feet of water just off the shoreline with shaky heads and square bill crankbaits. Report by Lake Fork fishing guide Marc Mitchell, Lake Fork Pro. Lake Fork crappie are starting to stack up on trees in good numbers earlier this year than we normally see. The water temperatures have dropped to the low 80s and the fish are getting hungry. Best depths this week seem to be 18-24 feet of water with fish suspended 8-14 feet deep on the trees. Brush pile fish are beginning to bite here and there as well. Minnows are still the best bait, but soft plastics and hand tied jigs will work throughout the fall and winter months. - Ft. Phantom Hill

- Graham
- SLOW. Water lightly stained; 84 degrees; 3.03 feet low. Largemouth bass are good with fishing starting the fall transition chasing bait balls. Target bass in 4-8 feet of water near grassy docks and mouths of creeks. Catfish are good off docks on punch bait. Crappie are slow. Hybrid stripers and white bass are schooling in the discharge area.
- Granbury
- FAIR. Water lightly stained; 88 degrees; 1.71 feet low. After the recent rains target freshwater currents for largemouth bass and catfish. Crappie are good in 10-25 feet of water on brush, docks, timber and stumps using minnows and jigs. Largemouth bass are good in brush using Texas rigged 10 inch worms and swimbaits. - GOOD. Water lightly stained; 87 degrees; 2.17 feet low. Black bass are fair on various baits fished around main lake hydrilla and up river around stumps. Crappie are very good on 1/32 ounce jigs fished over structure in 4-12 feet of water. White bass are very good to 2 pounds on slab spoons fished over main lake humps. - Greenbelt
- SLOW. Water stained; 83 degrees; 43.11 feet low. Fishing patterns are holding constant with few new reports. Catfish are good at night with minnows. Crappie are slow in 18 feet of water with minnows. Largemouth bass are slow using crankbaits. Sand bass are slow schooling deep biting silver spoons. Walleye are slow scattered all over the lake on crappie jigs, buzz bait and minnows.
- Houston County
- GOOD. Water stained; 86 degrees; 1.67 feet below. Crappie are good in standing timber and brush in 12-20 feet of water using minnows. - Hubbard Creek
- GOOD. Water Stained; 81 degrees; 5.90 feet low. White bass are good with some surface action using a MAL lure in 15-30 feet of water on mainlake structure and around islands. Channel catfish are good on mud flats in 5-10 feet of water on baited holes. Crappie are good on boat docks, bridge pilings and submerged brush. - Jacksonville
- FAIR. Water lightly stained; 89 degrees; 1.62 feet below. Bass are biting dropshots and Texas rigged soft plastics in brush piles in 8-20 feet of water, humps, and on the rocks in deeper water. The topwater bite is improving on walking style baits.
- Joe Pool
- GOOD. Water normal stain; 86 degrees; 1.26 feet low. Fishing is better in the afternoon and evening than in the morning. Bass are good in 15-20 feet of water on sharp bends in the creek channels with any kind of bottom structure such as rocks, stumps, and man-made brush piles. In deeper water use Texas or Carolina rigs, dropshots, or slowly drag a soft plastic worm or creature bait. In15 feet or less use Texas rigs and shaky heads. - Lake O’ the Pines
- GOOD. Water lightly stained; 87 degrees; 1.51 feet low. Catfish are good on baited holes 15-20 feet of water using cheese bait. Crappie are fair on brush in 15-20 feet of water biting on minnow and jigs. Bass are good early and late in the evening on topwater frogs shallow. - Lavon
- GOOD. Water lightly stained; 85 degrees; 4.42 feet low. White bass are good with a sporadic topwater bite in the morning, but mostly smaller sized fish, and in 10-20 feet of water on structure. Larger fish will be 5 feet under the surface biting on one ounce white or chartreuse slabs and swim baits. Crappie are fishing best after 10 A.M. in 10-18 feet of water near structure using minnows and jigs. In the morning target fish in 5-7 feet of water on structure along the banks. Black bass are good with topwaters for the first half hour of light, then switch to white and chartreuse spinners with a paddle tail swimbait as a trailer. Target deep rock piles 15-25 feet of water with Alabama rigs, or brush piles in 10-20 feet of water with a live scope using Carolina or Texas rigs and crankbaits as the sun comes up after 9 A.M. Catfish are great in 10-20 feet of water on ledges and flats using cut bait, drum and gizzard shad. Find the huge bait schools where it blacks out your fish finder with so much bait. The catfish will be trailing and eating the main school of bait. Bobber your baits off the bottom or even use a Santi rig the fish are feeding great right now. Occasionally, they will mosey out to approximately 27 feet of water. Bluegills are great on brush in 10-20 feet of water using earthworms, crickets or bacon. Leave a strip of bacon outside for a couple hours and let it tighten up, then use a pinky nail size for bacon bait on a very small hook. - GOOD. Water lightly stained; 84 degrees; 0.69 feet low. Crappie are good in 14-20 feet of water with white and chartreuse jigs, and minnows. Catfish are good in 20-25 feet of water with punch bait. - Lewisville
- FAIR. Water lightly stained; 82 degrees; 3.17 feet low. Fishing patterns remain similar as the water temperature is cooling some after the recent rains. White bass are fair on points and humps in 20-30 feet of water using slabs or live bait, with sporadic top water action. Hybrid stripers are slow, but can be picked off every once in a while mixed in with the white bass. If you are keeping fish, please be aware that there are a lot of undersized hybrid stripers in the lake that look very similar to a white bass. Catfish are fair drifting cut shad or chicken breasts in 16-28 feet of water on wind blown points, humps, and flats near creek channels. Crappie are fair to good in 6-25 feet of water near rock piles, stumps, laydowns, brush piles, standing timber, and bridge columns using minnows and jigs. Report by Wes Campbell, BendaRod Fishing.
- Limestone
- GOOD. Water clear; 86 degrees; 4.40 feet below. Crappie are good suspended in 12-18 feet of water around brush and standing timber using minnows. Largemouth bass are good in 4-12 feet of water on docks and points using Texas or Carolina rigs, and crankbaits, and topwater frogs. White bass are good on points and humps in 7-16 feet of water with silver jigging spoons. Catfish are good in 7-15 feet of water off points and flats with cut bait. - Livingston
- GOOD. Stained; 85 degrees; 0.83 feet low. Look for the water clarity to be muddy and flooding conditions on the North end as the freshwater runoff flows in from North Texas rains. White bass are good to excellent with the topwater schooling action, then jigging with slabs on points and humps. Catfish are fair to good. Crappie continue to be slow. - Martin Creek
- GOOD. 95 degrees. Water lightly stained; 2.37 feet low. Largemouth bass are fair after all the fresh water from recent rains. Fish along the edge of the hydrilla working a plastic worm. Crappie fishing went from fair to excellent fishing flooded timber in 20-25 feet of water with minnows.
- Medina
- FAIR. Water lightly stained; 86 degrees; 75.22 feet low. Bass are slow with soft plastics, and an early morning topwater bite. White bass and striped bass are fair trolling slabs on deeper water humps. Catfish are good with stink bait and cut baits.
- Meredith
- GOOD. Water stained; 78-80 degrees; 53.56 feet low. Bass are good on minnows and artificial baits, with several nice sized catches off docks. Catfish are good on live, stinks, punch baits in Bugbee and Harbor Bay. Crappie are fair on minnows, jigs, small crankbaits, and other artificials. White bass are good on minnows. Trout are slow. Walleye are fair hanging around boulders and ledges biting on minnows and nightcrawlers. Try pulling a bouncer and crawler harness, or using a vertical presentation like a slab, spoon or vibrating blade in 35-42 feet of water. Cedar Canyon boat ramp is open and a 4.5 foot trench has been channeled to deeper water. Please be safe and watch weather reports. Life vests save lives. - Millers Creek
- GOOD. Water stained; 93 degrees; 4.22 feet low. Fishing continues to follow a constant pattern. Fishing at night along the shoreline is fair for channel and blue catfish using shad and punch bait. Hybrid bass are schooling early morning, biting on swimbaits from the bank or trolling. Crappie and white bass are slow with few reports.
- Nacogdoches
- GOOD. Water lightly stained; 85-88 degrees; 2.74 feet low. The summer fishing patterns continue. Hydrilla is plentiful on the North end and in Yellowbank. Largemouth bass can be caught along creek and grass edges. There are plenty of schooling bass being caught on the main lake. Crappie are fair and are spread throughout the lake. They can be found on brush piles and standing timber along the creek channel. Overcast conditions and rainfall will help lower the water temperature and improve the bite. - Naconiche
- GOOD. Water clear to stained; 87 degrees; 1.00 feet low. After the much needed rain the lake is near full pool. Good numbers of bass schooling up over deeper water biting on jerkbait plus-1 and shad style lures, or A Mag-worm in Junebug color in 8-12 feet of water. The shad are small, so down-size your presentations to match the natural bait. Most fish are suspended just above the thermocline depth, so count your lure down to the thermocline depth and keep it in the strike zone. The Crappie population is good. Catfish are slow. - Nasworthy
- GOOD. Water murky; 86 degrees. 0.92 feet low. Bass are fair in the reeds and around boat docks using soft plastics and topwater lures. Crappie are good in the reeds, around docks, and bridge pilings using black and chartreuse crappie jigs and minnows. - FAIR. Stained; 85 degrees; 2.40 feet low. Crappie are fair on brush and standing timber with minnows. Bass are fair along grass edges with crankbaits and soft plastics.
- O.C. Fisher
- SLOW. Water stained; 83 degrees; 46.81 feet low. The lake continues to be low. Catfish are good in the river channel using cut bait and chicken liver. Black bass are good along brush edges dropshots with wacky rigged worms in pumpkin seed. Crappie and white bass are slow with the low lake level.

- GREAT. Water clear; 88 degrees; 21.50 feet low. Fishing patterns continue to be constant but the fall patterns are right around the corner. White bass are great with live bait and crankbaits. Crappie good with jigs and minnows. Largemouth bass are good in 8-18 feet of water over grass with topwaters and crankbaits. Catfish are fair on prepared baits and live bait. - GOOD. Water lightly stained; 84 degrees; 9.44 feet low. Channel catfish are good on chicken liver fished off docks. Crappie and white bass are good at night under the lights. White bass are running from the HWY 70 bridge up the creek. Troll with spinner baits, and gold or silver spoons around the brush.
- Palestine
- GOOD. Water lightly stained; 85 degrees; 1.96 feet low. Bass are good casting under boat docks with water out in front with big eyed jigs, and small crankbaits, and some topwaters. Deep road beds holding bass biting on deep diving crankbaits, Carolina rigs, or wobble head jig. Crappie are good under the bridge, brush piles in 17 feet with minnows. White and hybrid bass are slow on the points near the 155 bridge with deep diving crankbaits. Catfish are biting excellent under boat houses chicken liver and baited holes in the river. - FAIR. Water lightly stained; 88 degrees; 4.68 feet low. The lake is low navigate with caution. Bass are fair off points on topwaters early and a few fish on deeper points with soft plastics later in the day.
- Possum Kingdom
- GOOD. Water lightly stained; 84 degrees; 4.02 feet low. Striped bass are on the move and fishing has been good trolling with live bait or pink and chartreuse slabs. Sand bass are good with topwaters and rattletraps. Some surface action in the morning, but it is quick. Catfish are good on open flats with cut bait or punch bait. - SLOW. Water stained; 83 degrees; 7.25 feet low. Black bass are fair. Hybrid striped bass are slow. White bass are fair on bomber slabs. Crappie are poor on live bait. Catfish are fair on cut shad.

- SLOW. Water stained; 85 degrees; 3.50 feet low. The rain is starting to cool the water temperatures and fishing is improving. Bass have been good on Texas rig senkos in junebug color, and Alabama rig offshore. Catfish and crappie are good on minnows in deeper water around submerged stumps.

- GOOD. Water lightly stained; 83-85 degrees; 1.85 feet low. White bass are good moving shallow in 3-8 feet of water slow rolling in-line spinners or tail spinners. Crappie are fair on brush tops in 12-18 feet of water with minnows and jigs working equally. White bass are good on jigging slabs off the bottom. Blue catfish are running in the same schools biting the same way. Crappie are fair on brush piles with minnows. - FAIR. Water clear; 89 degrees; 4.27 feet low. Fishing patterns are similar when the weather allows. Crappie are fair on brush piles and bridge columns in 15-20 feet of water with minnows. White bass are poor and hard to locate, best bet is to work points and humps in 10-15 feet of water using slabs or in-line Mepps Spinners. Hybrid bass are good on humps in 20-25 feet of water near the 309 flats using live shad. Small eater size channel and blue catfish are excellent using punch bait on a #4 treble hooks in the main lake and creek points in 10-20 feet of water, or chumming with fermented grain or range cubes. Bass will be in the freshwater found in drains and ditches biting on Carolina rigs and crankbaits. Crappie and catfish will move towards the freshwater current flowing from the creeks. White bass are good schooling on the flats chasing shad. Catfish continue to be good in creek channels off ledges and brush piles in 15 feet of water. - FAIR. Stained; 83 degrees; 4.27 feet below. White bass are good trolling with pet spoons, or using shad and pencil minnows in 6-10 feet of water. Hybrid bass are fair and scattered in deeper water. Black bass are fair hitting slow moving jigs with plastics on drop-offs and brush in 10-15 feet of water. Crappie are good with many undersized catches on main lake brush piles in 8-18 feet of water using minnows and various colored jigs. Catfish and bluegill are fair on minnows and worms early morning and late in the evening at the Somerville Marina. Catfish are fair early morning in 6-12 feet of water on punch bait or jug lines with shad and cut bait. Lots of smaller fish mixed in. - GOOD. Water lightly stained; 83 degrees; 8.90 feet low. White bass continue to concentrate on both breaklines and slow-tapering bottoms in 34-46 feet of water. Downrigging to find fish, then using MAL Dense Lures vertically at first, then horizontally after the vertical bite cools off continues to produce morning limits of fish. The long-running topwater action fueled by smaller, “schoolie” largemouth bass seems to have dried up with the north winds. - GOOD. Water lightly stained; 85 degrees; 3.22 feet low. White bass and striped bass are really good trolling in 9-15 feetof water. Channel catfish bite is red hot and excellent. Catching limits easily by 10 A.M. using punch bait and dip bait fished over baited holes in 25-30 feet of water. Crappie bite is surprisingly good with minnows out fishing jigs. Changing locations frequently to get a nice box of fish. Largemouth bass bite is slow with fish in extremely shallow water at daylight with topwater baits. - FAIR. Water stained; 84 degrees; 4.88 feet low. Bass are good in timber and structure with crankbaits and weightless flukes. Crappie are fair in deep water using minnows and jigs. Catfish are good throughout the lake on liver perch, cut bait and juglines. White bass are in the Navidad River biting on slabs and spoons.
- Texoma
- EXCELLENT. Water stained; 88 degrees; 1.38 feet below. Striped bass are good early in the morning on topwaters, then chasing big schools in the middle of the lake and in the river with slabs. Switching to live shad fishing the flats in 15-20 feet of water. Blue and channel cat fishing remains excellent on cut shad and prepared baits in 25-35 feet of water. Largemouth and smallmouth bass fishing is getting better using topwaters and soft plastics early along the boulders and rocky banks in 5-10 feet of water. - Toledo Bend
- GOOD. Water stained; 77-79 degrees; 3.81 feet low. The water level is 168.1 with no generators running. Water temperature at the Dam is 77-79 degrees with surface temperature around 75. The back feeder creeks are stained to muddy due to spotty to intermittent showers in the afternoons this week. Black bass have been caught on jig-n-pigs and swim jigs 3/8 and 1/2 ounce in colors black/blue, peanut butter and jelly, and summer craw colors. Remember dip-n-die chartreuse and orange on your trailers. The jigs have been effective in 2-10 feet of water. Another catching pattern for black bass in the mouths of the feeder creeks in clearer water, use a square bill crankbait and trap in shad colors in chrome with a black or blue back, and a red craw pattern during the last two hours in the evening. Fly fishermen use hollow body flies three inch in colors shad/white and chartreuse/white or a Dahlberg Diver Frog fly, and a Wilson’s top water popper in a baby bass pattern. Find the bait balls and you will find the bass. Get on them quick and catch a few and keep moving. The Crappie catch has been picking up this week. Bluegills are still mixed in with crappie in the brush piles in deeper water. Safety tip, if you hear lightning, get off the water. Good luck and tight lines! Covering a lot of water fishing shallow and fast will be key as the bass transition into the fall pattern. Bass are good with topwaters on shallower flats and marinas. - GOOD. Water lightly stained; 81 degrees; 7.12 feet low. After the recent rains target freshwater currents for largemouth bass and catfish. Striped bass are excellent using live bait, swimbaits, and topwaters. Crappie are fair in 10-25 feet of water in standing brush. White bass are slow using live minnow and slabs.
