Shreveport man arrested for 1,695 charges of child, animal sex crimes

A Shreveport, Louisiana, man is behind bars after officials say he fled Caddo Parish to avoid being prosecuted on thousands of animal and child sex crimes.

Officials with the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office said 32-year-old Darren Dew was arrested this week in Ohio by officials with the United States Marshals. A forensic investigation into Dew’s electronics allegedly found 1,695 images and videos of child pornography and animal sexual abuse.

According to Cyber Crimes Unit Detective Thomas Lites, Dew downloaded, uploaded, and saved pornography involving children as young as three. In addition, Lites also found evidence of a dog being sexually abused.

Sheriff officials said Dew will be extradited to Caddo Parish Correctional Center on 1,694 counts of child pornography and one count of animal abuse.
