Unusual armed robbery was fabricated by alleged victim

The unusual armed robbery reported on July 18, 2022, has been determined to have been a lie, according to Paris police.

According to Curtis Garrett of the Paris Police Department, a follow-up investigation where a man was reported to have attempted to rob another person while wearing a paper bag over his head, a white bed sheet as a robe, and two-liter bottles for shoes determined the alleged victim was fabricating the story completely.

“Investigators spoke with the reported victim and he admitted that he had made the story up and that none of it was true,” Garrett explained.

The case has been sent to the Lamar County District Attorney’s office for review and possible charges against the man who made the false report.
