  • Thursday, July 21, 2022, at 7:00 am: Officers responded to a shoplifter call in the 1300 block of
    Clarksville Street, where a white male wearing an olive green shirt had been seen stuffing items in
    his pants and leaving on a bicycle, headed eastbound. Tristan Wayne Whitaker, 18, of Detroit
    Texas was stopped in the 1600 block of Clarksville Street and the stolen items were removed from
    his pants. Methamphetamine, several pills, and other drug paraphernalia were located in Whitaker’s
    backpack. Whitaker was charged with 2 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of
    Dangerous Drug, Class “C” Theft, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Whitaker was booked into
    the Paris Police Department jail.
  • Thursday, July 21, 2022, at 11:47 am: Officer initiated contact with a black male for walking on the
    wrong side of the roadway in the 400 block of West Sherman Street. The subject was identified as Ervin
    Dejuan Gray, 34, of Paris and was determined to have active warrants for his arrest. Upon
    attempting to place Gray under arrest he started to run away, was captured, and physically resisted
    by striking the officer with a closed fist. Backup officers assisted with handcuffing Gray. Gray kicked the
    patrol unit, causing a large dent. Gray was immediately transported to the Lamar County jail, where
    he continued his combative and aggressive demeanor with the Lamar County Jail staff and was
    immediately placed into the Lamar County Jail rubber room. Gray was charged with on-view Evading
    Arrest Detention, Assault on a Peace Officer, and Criminal Mischief, and two active warrants from a
    February 2022 investigation; Assault Causes Bodily Injury and Terroristic Threat.
  • Friday, July 22, 2022, at 1:24 am: Officer was flagged down in a parking lot in the 3000 block of NE
    Loop 286. Officer approached an older model silver Chevrolet Silverado and observed the driver step
    out of the vehicle and began spitting blood on the pavement, as he bled profusely from his nose and
    mouth. The subject advised that he had been assaulted by his ex-girlfriend in the 1300 block of West
    Kaufman Street, where an argument had taken place and he was struck with an unknown object in
    his nose. Subject advised when he was struck, the “world went white” and that he “blacked out” and
    doesn’t remember how he got to this location. The subject was transported to Paris Regional Medical
    Center for treatment and the case will be investigated.

On Thursday, July 21, 2022, the Paris Police Department responded to 72 calls for service and arrested seven adults.
