A rare alignment of five planets will be visible from Earth early Friday morning – about 45 minutes before sunrise.

Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn will line up, in that order, for the first time since 2004. As long as clouds don’t cover the sky, the phenomenon will be visible in our area. Although it is rather common to see three planets together, seeing five is rare.

The five so-called “naked-eye planets” will line up along with the waning crescent moon, which will join the procession between Venus and Mars. Look up toward the eastern horizon and you should see the beautiful sight.
