Freshwater Weekly Fishing Report

Alan Henry

FAIR. Water clear; 74 degrees; 6.43 feet low. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows 6-20 feet of water. Report provided by Randy Britton, Lake Alan Henry Crappie Guide.

Amistad

GOOD. Water clear; 79 degrees; 56.49 feet low. Black bass are around the edges of hydrilla. Some fish on beds however, most spawning is on deep ledges. Texas rig plastics in craw pattern are working 5-15 feet of water. White bass and stripers are good below 30 feet following shad balls around the Rough Canyon area. Water is extremely low. Channel catfish are excellent with punch bait in 4-6 feet of water early morning, moving to 34 feet of water when the sun rises. Check with the parks services for ramp closures before heading out. Arlington

FAIR. Water lightly stained; 75 degrees;1.91 feet low. The shad spawn has made fishing great on the lake. Bass are biting well on crankbaits, spinnerbaits, jigs, or flukes in shad and bluegill patterns.

Arrowhead

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 78-80 degrees; 2.97 feet low. Catfish are good on the main lake and in the shallows with fresh cut shad or punch bait. Crappie are good in the shallows and under the bridges. Report by Brandon Brown, Brown’s Guide Service.

Athens

GOOD. Water clear; 80-82 degrees; 0.36 feet above. Bass are slow with most bites shallow in 3-8 feet of water in and around grass using shaky-head ribbon tail worms, and twitching flukes. Crappie are fair over brush in 20-25 feet of water using minnows. Report by Jim Brack, Athens Guide Service.

Austin

FAIR. Water clear; 72 degrees; 0.72 feet low. Bass are fair on big swimbaits around deep docks and creek canals. Lady Bird Lake bass fishing is good for bass anywhere from 3-15 feet of water feeding on shad. Throw soft swimbaits to catch a few, or a weightless Texas rigged worms in the grass. B.A. Steinhagen

FAIR. Water stained; 76 degrees; 0.47 feet below. Bass are fair with some topwater action and in submerged vegetation hitting senkos, chatterbaits and crankbaits. Crappie are good using minnows and jigs on main lake structures and brush piles. Catfish are good moving shallow biting cut and cheese bait.

Bastrop

GOOD. Water clear; 87 degrees. Bass fishing is good with schooling action near the hot water discharge with small topwaters and small finesse worms. Crappie are excellent in 27 feet over brush live minnows. Report by Charles Whited, Barefoot Fishing Tours.

Belton

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 77 degrees; 4.14 feet low. Threadfin shad continue to spawn every morning providing easy shallow topwater action from 6:15-7:00 a.m. Look for blue herons and white herons feeding on the shore to find these fish. Mature white bass are beginning to show up in good numbers in the lower ends of the tributaries and main lake. Fishing vertically with MAL Dense Lures is accounting for 200-300 fish morning trips. Afternoon results are still solid, but mornings are better. With the recent warmup, sunfish are now in the shallows to stay, and bass are becoming reliable on small, dark soft plastics fished on jigheads in the timbered coves. Benbrook

SLOW. Water lightly stained; 70 degrees; 3.55 feet low. Bass are good on crankbaits, chatterbaits and weighted wacky rigs along the rip-rap and bluff walls. Crappie are good on brush piles and docks using minnows and jigs. White bass are fair chasing bait on silver jigging spoons. Catfish are good on cut baits.

Bob Sandlin

GOOD. Water clear; 82 degrees; 0.28 feet low. Crappie are good on brush in 15-20 feet of water biting on minnow and jigs. Bass are shallow in 2-3 feet of water off banks and under docks. Throwing your favorite plastics should land you some nice catches. Catfish are spawning with a good bite off rocks in 2-3 feet of water using cheese bait or cut bait. Brady

Good. Water dirty; 76 degrees; 8.78 feet low. Largemouth bass are post spawn, but still shallow. 20 pound stringers are still being caught on chatterbaits and soft plastics in the sticks and off rocks. Catfishing is picking up with good numbers being caught on live perch or shad. White bass and crappie are good on live minnows in the marina area

Braunig

GOOD. Water stained, 88 degrees. Red drum are good in 10-25 feet of water on live perch, crawfish and shrimp, and around the recreational shoreline points in 5-15 feet of water with long casts. Largemouth bass are good around reed beds on dark colored soft plastics, watermelon, red jigs and spinners. Channel catfish are fair in coves and around reed beds at night on live perch, worms and cheese bait.

Bridgeport

GOOD. Water normal stain; 75 degrees; 3.51 feet low. Threadfin shad are running the banks for their spawn and all species of fish are shallow looking for an easy meal. Try a shad type crankbait to reel these fish in. Blue herons are sharing their fishing spots, so watch and they will guide you to active fish. Sand bass are good moving back into the main lake, finishing their spawn. Slabs have been producing quite well. Crappie and largemouth bass are moving into their post spawn pattern. The southern end may still have some spawning fish though. Look for the crappie to return to summer time brush piles pretty quickly biting on minnows and jigs will rule. Brownwood

GOOD. Water slightly stained; 78-85 degrees; 3.45 feet low. Bass are good to 6.50 pounds on crankbaits and jigs around the rock cut and docks with brush in 6-10 feet of water. Some Bass are still chasing the shad spawn but most are in a summer pattern. Crappie are good to excellent with 1.25 pound fish coming on minnows and black/chartreuse or white color jigs from 10-15 feet of water in brush piles and around lighted docks. White bass are excellent to 1.50 pounds on small swimbaits or crankbaits under the lights at night. Catfish are good on cut bait and liver around the flats in 6-12 feet of water.

Buchanan

GREAT. Water lightly stained; 77 degrees; 3.72 feet low. Crappie fishing is good in 15-20 feet of water over brush piles using chartreuse jigs. Report by Jess Rotherham, Texas Crappie Fishing Service. Bass are good on shallow rock and vegetation, and flipping shallow trees with worms and craw worms. The topwater bite is getting good as well. Caddo

SLOW. Water stained; 75 degrees; 1.46 feet high. Summer patterns will be here quickly with this heat wave. The top water action is starting to heat up on Caddo, as the brim become more active the top water bite will only get better. It is time to tie on a big worm and go hit deep solo trees, or the rivers to find active schools. The flowers are blooming on the lily pads all around the lake. Calaveras

FAIR. Water stained, 86 degrees. Red drum continue to be fair around the boat ramp areas on live perch and frozen shrimp. Boaters trolling with spoons or using bait in 20 feet of water seeing the best results. Blue and channel catfish are fair on cutbait, live perch, and cheese bait. Largemouth bass are slow. Hybrid stripers are slow. Yellow catfish no report.

Canyon Lake

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 72 degrees; 1.87 feet low. Bass are very good at the mouth of the river around hydrilla and points using Carolina rigs, flukes, baby brush hawgs. There is an early topwater bite near grass and rocks while the shad spawn. Striped and white bass are slow schooling on overcast days and at night in the marina green lights at night using live minnows and small shad colored swimbaits. Crappie are good in the hardwoods up river and on the main lake Corp of Engineers brush piles using live minnows. Report by Charles Whited, Barefoot Fishing Tours.

Cedar Creek

EXCELLENT. Water normal stain; 75 degrees; 1.30 feet low. Crappie are excellent on main lake brush piles in 10-18 feet of water using jigs and minnows. Largemouth bass are excellent on rocks, docks, and brush piles in 10-14 feet of water using plastics and crankbaits. White and hybrid bass are excellent schooling in the morning by the dam biting on slabs. Catfish are excellent on fresh shad near retaining walls and rocks. Choke Canyon

GOOD. Water stained; 75 degrees; 20.36 feet low. Bass are very good shallow in 5-8 feet of water in the grass using crankbaits and chatterbaits, and deeper on the lower end with crankbaits. Crappie are very good with limits over brush piles using live minnows and jigs. White bass are good on jigging spoons on humps near the dam and road beds. Catfish are good on cheese bait. Cisco

GOOD. Water stained; 75 degrees; 4.63 feet low. The warmer weather has really turned the night bite on. Anglers are reporting good fishing for all species in the lake. Crappie are great on live minnows. Catfish, and sand bass are good using live minnows, perch or crawfish. Perch bite is good on worms. Report by Jason Miller, Lake Cisco Rentals.

Coleman

SLOW. Slightly stained; 75 degrees; 2.81 feet low. Fishing patterns are similar with the best bite early and late as the days heat up. Bass are good with some topwater action early, and then switching to diving crankbaits, or senkos. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs on main lake brush piles. Catfish are fair on cut bait. Hybrid stripers are fair starting to school with some topwater action.

Conroe

GOOD. Slightly stained; 81 degrees; 0.01 feet above. Catfish are ready to spawn in 5-25 feet of water looking for nests in tires, rock, brush, and timber. They will be concentrated together until around mid July. Hitting catfish bubblegum, shrimp, shad or minnows under a cork. Report by Brad Doyle with Bradley’s Guide Service. Hybrid stripers are in small schools in 16-25 feet of water, with some early morning topwater action. Jigging with a one ounce spoon or trolling with a hellbender and pet spoon is producing. To determine the differences between hybrid and white bass check the Texas Parks and Wildlife website. Black bass are good deadsticking weightless senkos close to bulkheads. Cooper

GREAT. Water lightly stained; 74 degrees; 2.50 feet low. Fishing is similar this week. Large catfish will become harder to catch in numbers as the water temperature increases and the fish sit on nests. Blue catfish are excellent on fresh cut bait. Corpus Christi Lake

GOOD. 80 degrees; 5.54 feet below. With summer beginning to heat up, fishing at night has produced alligator gar catches in 4-6 feet of water and big blue catfish. Catfish are good in 10-15 feet of water on cheese bait, worms, soap baits, shad, and perch. Largemouth bass are fair in 5-10 feet of water near structure on crankbaits, rattletraps, and jigs. White bass are good in 10-15 feet of water on small spoons and live minnows. Crappie are good in 5-10 feet of water on minnows and jigs near structure. Cypress Springs

Water stained; 75 degrees; 1.39 feet low. The surface temps are mid to upper 70s and rising rapidly. The bass are still active up shallow at first light but spread out quickly as the sun comes up. Use fast moving baits like lipless crankbaits, spinnerbaits and also a variety of topwater baits to cover water. Crappie are becoming more stacked up on brush piles in 7-12 feet as they pull off the beds. These fish are usually very active and can be caught on a variety of soft plastics in bright colors. Use as light of a jig head as the wind will allow. The channel cats are still up shallow as well. Cork rigs with prepared baits are still producing over baited areas. Eagle Mountain

GOOD. Water stained, 79 degrees; 2.72 feet low. White bass are good on main lake structure on slabs with teaser flies. Crappie are fair to good on brush piles and main lake structure on jigs with white color combinations. Largemouth bass are fair to good on crankbaits around docks and main lake structure. Falcon

GOOD. Water stained; 78-83 degrees; 42.43 feet low. Gar bite is good on the north end shallow flats bow fishing, or using a rod and reel with cut bait. Bass are good in 8-15 feet of water with plastic worms dragging on hard bottom structure. Catfish are in a spawn transition with a good night bite in the middle of creek channels. Fayette

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 82-84 degrees. Bass are good on humps and rip rap with deep diving crankbaits and plastics in 8-18 feet of water. Catfish are hitting punch bait in 6-12 feet of water on tight lines over chum. Fishing for catfish should remain in this same pattern throughout the summer. Fork

GOOD. Water Stained; 75 degrees; 5.46 feet low. The crappie bite on Lake Fork is heating up more than the temperature right now. Post spawn fish are stacking up on timber, lay downs and brush this week in big numbers. They are hungry and will bite almost anything you drop on them. Minnows are still the best producer with hand tied jigs a close second. Best depths seem to be 10-23 feet of water. Bass are good with an early morning topwater bite on points. Shad patterned spinnerbaits are working well in 1-4 feet of water on windy points and banks. Ft. Phantom Hill

Graham

FAIR. Water lightly stained; 75 degrees; 1.54 feet low. Fish are transitioning into the summer pattern. Crappie are on main lake brush piles and timber using jigs and minnows. Catfish are good in the shallows on cut and prepared baits.

Granbury

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 76 degrees; 0.26 feet low. Bass are good with a quick early morning bite before transitioning to deeper water as the day heats up. Whitebass fishing has improved on the main lake as the fish are returning to their post spawn locations. White bass are good on slabs fished near humps and flats from the Shores to Decordova. Striped bass action is slow to fair on live shad fished on the lower ends. Blue and yellow catfish continue to be good on cut shad on many areas of the lake. Crappie catches continue to be good to excellent on small minnows fished under docks over deeper water. Granger

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 76 degrees; 0.40 feet high. Black bass are fair on jigs fished in shallow water. Crappie are good on 1/32 ounce jigs tipped with crappie nibbles and very small goldfish. White bass are fair on spoons fished along road beds. Blue catfish are good on shad fished along shallow windy banks. Yellow catfish are fair on perch and goldfish on lines in the river. Grapevine

FAIR. Water lightly stained; 75 degrees; 1.18 feet above. Fishing has slowed as most catches continue to be undersized. Start fishing early along shorelines as the shad spawn at first light. Greenbelt

FAIR. Water stained; 70 degrees; 41.38 feet low. Bank fishermen are having success fishing for all species. Crappie are good using minnows and small jigs. Largemouth good using crankbaits and spinner baits. Sand bass are good on jigs.

Houston County

GOOD. Water stained; 75 degrees; 0.01 feet above. As the weather warms the bite will be shallow then push deeper as the sun rises. Crappie are good on brush piles and docks using minnows and jigs. Bass are good in standing timber, docks and rocks on spinnerbaits, crankbaits and green pumpkin or watermelon red worms. Catfish are good on cut and prepared baits.

Hubbard Creek

GOOD. Water Stained; 76 degrees; 3.72 feet low. Bass are good submerged vegetation using topwaters, crankbaits and paddle tails. White bass are good in main lake brush piles using spoons. Crappie are good over brush piles and under bridges using minnows and jigs.

Jacksonville

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 76 degrees; 0.06 feet above. Largemouth bass are fair in standing timber and boat houses using your favorite soft plastics. Crappie are fair in main lake brush piles and structure with minnows and jigs. Catfish are good on punch bait.

Joe Pool

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 77 degrees; 2.04 feet low. Bass fishing is good and the fish are in a post-spawn pattern biting on Texas rigged watermelon and green pumpkin straight tailed worms and senkos. Fish wind-blown banks with any underwater structure. The fish are moving out on tapering points near coves and pockets along the shoreline and running the bank looking for bait along any depth change or drop off. Fish deeper in 15-20 feet of water and slower on sunny and calm days in the same areas with Carolina rigged creature baits, ribbon-tail worms or senkos. Lake O’ the Pines

FAIR. Water lightly stained; 76 degrees; 0.15 feet low. Fish are right where we left them in the same pattern. Crappie are staging on brush in 15-20 feet of water biting on minnow and jigs. Bass are shallow in 2-3 feet of water off banks and under docks. Throwing your favorite plastics should land you some nice catches. Lavon

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 75 degrees; 0.42 feet above. Crappies are good between 12-15 feet of water on standing timber and brush biting minnows and small jigs. Black bass are slow in 1-5 feet of water early morning using chartreuse/white spinners, then moving to 3-15 feet of water using crankbaits. Sunfish are good in 12-20 feet of water on brush piles. Hitting earthworms and pieces of cut shad or cut minnows with 2-4 pound line. Catfish are good in 2-14 feet of water early in the morning when the shad are running the banks and spawning. Cut bait under a cork or stink bait is producing eaters. Bigger trophy fish are up in the timber in 3-10 feet of water using cut carp and shad. White bass are good running the banks early in the morning, 1-4 feet deep, when the shad are spawning. Small rooster tails ⅛ ounce, or 3-4 inch swim baits are working shallow. Then move out to 10-15 feet on main lake points to find them with one ounce slabs. Make a lot of noise, they will come to your boat. If you have a thumper that will keep them under the boat. LBJ

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 77 degrees; 0.82 feet low. Bass are very good on brush piles and rocky points in 8-15 feet of water using ten inch worms and crankbaits. Good topwater bite all day on overcast days while the bass are feeding on shallow perch. White bass are good mid lake to the river in jigging spoons and live minnows. Lewisville

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 75 degrees; 0.80 feet above. Fish are biting in similar patterns, but the bite could shift some after the dip in temperatures forecasted this weekend. White bass are good on points and humps in 20-30 feet of water using slabs or live bait. Hybrid stripers are slow, hanging around the white bass. If you are keeping fish, please be aware that there are a lot of undersized hybrid stripers in the lake that look very similar to a white bass. Catfish are good drifting cut shad or chicken breasts in 16-24 feet of water. They can also be found shallow near the creek mouths after a rain, near wind blown points and flats near creek channels. Crappie are fair in depths ranging from 6-25 feet of water. Rock piles, stumps, laydowns, brush piles, standing timber, and bridge columns have all produced fish using minnows and jigs. Limestone

EXCELLENT. Water clear; 80 degrees; 0.25 feet below. Fishing has been awesome. Crappie are good in 9-17 feet of water suspended on brush and standing timber using minnows. Largemouth bass are good in 3-7 feet of water using chatterbaits, spinnerbaits and Texas rigs. White bass are good in 7-14 feet of water using silver jigging spoons. Good luck and tight lines! Livingston

GOOD. Stained; 75 degrees; 0.16 feet above. White bass are good off points and brush hitting slabs and spoons. Catfish are good in the bulkheads on cut shad. Largemouth bass are fair just out from the shoreline and around standing timber on crankbaits, topwaters, and chatterbaits.

Martin Creek

SLOW. 77 degrees. Water lightly stained; 0.04 feet above. Crappie are good on main lake brush piles and structure. Bass are fair in submerged vegetation and points out a little deeper than we have been seeing. Hitting Texas rigs, crankbaits, and some topwaters. Catfish are fair on punch bait and shad.

Medina

FAIR. Water lightly stained; 70 degrees; 57.36 feet low. Black bass are fair with topwaters, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits. White bass are good using slabs on main lake humps. Watch for birds to point out schooling fish. Striped bass are fair on slabs and Alabama rigs. Catfish are good with commercial and cut baits.

Meredith

GOOD. Water stained; 63-65 degrees; 53.00 feet low. Bass are good in the shallows on minnows and artificial baits. Catfish are good on live, stink and punch baits. Even the occasional crankbait can get it done. Crappie are very good using minnows, but jigs, grubs and other artificials will get it done too in 5-30 feet of water. Trout are slow to bite due to the heat wave, but few catches on power baits and small spinners. Walleye are excellent on minnows, grubs, and other artificials. Millers Creek

GOOD. Water stained; 81 degrees; 3.10 feet low. Crappie have moved back out to summer spots in 16-24 feet of water with a very aggressive bite using 1/32 ounce jig head with shad color plastics fished vertically in brush piles. Bream are in shallow water around lily pads. 1/32 ounce jig, with small shad color plastic, under a bobber set at 18-24 feet of water.

Naconiche

GOOD. Water clear to stained; 80 degrees. Starting to see some good numbers of post-spawn bass schooling up over deeper water. The shad are small, so down-size your presentation. Most fish are suspended just above the thermocline depth, so count your lure down to 10-14 feet and keep it in the strike zone. Topwater bite was good early morning and later in the evening. Nasworthy

GOOD. Water murky; 75 degrees. 0.96 feet low. Bass are good in the reeds and around boat docks using soft plastics and top waters. Crappie are good in the reeds, around docks, and the bridge using crappie jigs and minnows. Catfish are good by the dam and in the river using cut bait. Navarro Mills

GOOD. Stained; 76 degrees; 0.63 feet low. Fishing has slowed some after the recent rains, and the spawns seem to have come to an end. Fish are transitioning to deeper water and structure. Bass are good near the dam using your favorite plastics.

O.C. Fisher

FAIR. Water stained; 75 degrees; 43.90 feet low. Largemouth bass are good pushing out from shorelines in vegetation on crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and some topwater. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs on main lake brush piles. White bass are good on points and humps using slabs. Catfish are fair on stink bait, live, and cut bait.

O.H. Ivie

GREAT. Water clear; 67-72 degrees; 18.23 feet low. White bass are good running up the rivers biting live bait or jigs. Crappie are good with jigs and minnows. Largemouth bass are good. Catfish are good shallow on prepared baits, live and cut bait. Report by Concho Park and Marina.

Oak Creek

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 73 degrees; 7.17 feet low. Windy weather persists so look for protected areas to fish. Catfish are good on dough and live baits off the docks. Palestine

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 83 degrees; 0.18 feet high. Bass are good using deep diving crankbaits and Carolina rigs in creek channels in 16 feet of water. The shallow bite is in 2-4 feet of water using quarter ounce big eyed spinnerbaits and wacky worms. Crappie are good in 14-16 feet of water using chartreuse jigs. White bass are good off points, under bridges and the 155 road beds using crankbaits and jigging spoons. Catfish are good with many smaller sized catches on baited holes in the river.

Palo Pinto

FAIR. Water lightly stained; 77 degrees; 1.45 feet low. Largemouth bass are good holding under deeper boat docks and structures in 15-20 feet of water. Possum Kingdom

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 77-81 degrees; 1.87 feet low. Striper fishing has been great using live shad and jigs in white and chartreuse. Sand bass are good using chartreuse slabs fished on sand points and some surface activity. Catfish are good on cut shad fished on bottom in 15-30 feet of water. Proctor

GOOD. Water stained; 78 degrees; 2.86 feet low. White bass are good on bomber slabs. Striped bass are slow. Catfish are good in shallow water using punch bait. Crappie are good on brush piles. Black bass are slow.

Raven

EXCELLENT. Water stained; 81 degrees. Fishing has been excellent this week. Crappie and catfish are on fire with minnows. Catfish weighing in at 4-5 pounds are being caught in 5-8 feet of water on minnows and cut bait, and they are hitting like they’re starving so be prepared! Bass are still cruising shallow in the morning biting on Texas rigs as well as white chatterbaits. The water is still about 2 to 3 ft low, and visibility is excellent. Prairie Branch fishing pier is still undergoing renovations, with a tentative reopening of the 27th if all goes well.

Ray Hubbard

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 70-72 degrees; 0.08 feet low. White bass are excellent on shallow flats in 3-5 feet of water using tail spinners and 3 artificials with a half ounce jig head. When the shallow bite ends, the bite transitions to the humps and ridges in 18-24 feet of water using a slab and jig combination. SLOW; Water lightly stained; 74 degrees; 0.56 feet above. Blue and channel catfish are fair on cut bait and punch bait shallow on windblown points. White bass are good under the birds using slabs and jigging spoons.

Richland Chambers

FAIR. Water clear; 75 degrees; 2.13 feet low. The winds are persistent this year, but you can normally get a fishing trip in on a strong south wind day. Crappie are good in 15-20 feet of water on minnows. White bass are excellent on slabs. Hybrid bass are fair on live shad and swimbaits on main lake points in 15-25 feet of water and Pelican Island and Windstock Point. Eater size channel catfish are fair on punch bait on a #4 treble hook. Blue catfish are good mixed in with the white bass, and on wind blown points. FAIR. Stained; 82-84 degrees; 0.21 feet high. Crappie, bluegill, and catfish are good at the Somerville Marina early morning and late evening. Black bass are good, on rocky points and brush. Hitting plastics and crankbaits in 5-12 feet of water. Crappie are mostly spawned out now moving to 8-18 feet of water on main lake brush piles biting minnows and jigs in any color. Catfish are good early morning using shad, liver, and punch bait. The smaller catfish are spawning. White bass and hybrids are excellent now that water temperatures are about 80 degrees. FAIR. Water stained; 76 degrees. 40.09 feet low. Bass are good in standing timber and docks using crankbaits, chatterbaits, and topwaters. Stamford

FAIR. Water stained; 71 degrees; 2.47 feet low. It is that time of year for all the fish to be shallow and spawning. Channel and blue catfish are biting on cut bait. Bass are fair in submerged vegetation using creature baits. Crappie are good with some shallow and some on main lake brush piles using minnows and jigs. Report by Anchor Marina.

Stillhouse

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 76 degrees; 4.19 feet low. White bass are hit-or-miss in the middle third of the lake on MAL Lures and slabs as they make their way to deep, clear water for the summer. Sunfish are abundant in the sprouting, shallow hydrilla. Largemouth bass fishing is consistent using dark-colored soft plastics along the deep, outside edge of stands of hydrilla in 12-14 feet of water. Sulphur Springs

FAIR. Water lightly stained; 75 degrees; 2.38 feet low. As the warm Texas days are heating up the water the early morning and late evening bites will be the ticket. Bass are fair using crankbaits and Texas rigs. Crappie are good on main lake brush piles and structure with jigs and minnows. Catfish are fair with punch bait and cut bait.

Tawakoni

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 75 degrees; 1.09 feet low. Lake Tawakoni continues to be a super strong fishery daily. The white bass and hybrid striper bite has been as good as it gets. Huge herds of fish mixed together have been feeding on giant schools of threadfin shad in shallow water. Artificial baits in chartreuse color such as slab spoons or swim baits work best. The blue and channel catfish bite red hot in shallow water. Prepared baits for the channels and fresh cut shad for the blues in less than five feet. Crappie are finishing up their spawn and can still be found in one foot of water, but can also be found on bridge columns and docks. Jigs seem to be working best right now. Largemouth are setting up on their post spawn pattern. Tawakoni fishes super shallow, so stick to the banks and focus on rocks and isolated shallow underwater structures. Texana

FAIR. Water stained; 77 degrees; 1.93 feet low. Bass are good with crankbaits, spinners and frogs. Crappie are good on main lake brush piles, and submerged structures using minnows and jigs. Catfish are good throughout the lake on liver perch, cut bait and juglines.

Texoma

EXCELLENT. Water stained; 73 degrees; 0.34 feet low. The striped bass bite is excellent early morning with topwaters, switching to swimbaits as the fish move deeper as the day warms. Toledo Bend

GOOD. Water stained; 70-73 degrees; 0.67 feet low. The water level is 171.7 with one generator running 24 hours. Water temperature in the mid lake area is 70-73 degrees. The back feeder creeks are stained, but the shallow flats and main lake are clear. Bass are moving around in submerged vegetation and structures. Try casting topwater imitations like popping frogs, buzz baits, spinnerbaits, wacky worms, senko style baits, flukes, lizards and don’t forget them swim jigs. Crappie are relocating to deeper water. When you see the Magnolia trees starting to blossom that is an indicator that the temperature is almost right for the bluegill to spawn. You can catch a bluegill using live crickets, grasshoppers, earthworms and small surface floating spiders and poppers. The shad spawn is still working, so follow the shad and you will find the bass. Typically, the shad are triggered to start their spawn when the water temperature ranges between 68-76 degrees. Laying their eggs on wooden structures and wooden bulkheads in shallow waters. Threadfin and gizzard shad play an important role in freshwater ecosystems, and by extension, are important to fishermen. The Catfish are biting on a slip cork rig in 2-4 feet of water from first light to 8:30 a.m. using shrimp, live or frozen shad, chicken livers and punch baits. Summer is here, time to get those kayaks or canoes out and get the family together to go fishing or exploring on beautiful Toledo Bend Lake! Remember to always keep your life jacket on while on the water and don’t forget to fasten that engine kill switch lanyard to your life jacket if you are operating a motorized vessel on the water. White River

SLOW. Water stained; 78 degrees; 23.86 feet low. Crappie are good over brush and submerged structure with minnows and small jigs. Catfish are good on cut bait and cheese bait. Largemouth bass are just out from the shoreline in grass and standing timber hitting crankbaits and topwaters.

Whitney

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 73 degrees; 2.28 feet low. Striped bass are great in 20-50 feet of water trolling umbrella-rigs, swimbaits and fishing with live bait on flats and along the main river channel throughout the reservoir.
