Man behind bars after striking several vehicles and fleeing from police: PPD

A man is behind bars after police say his box truck struck several vehicles and he fled from officers.

Around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Paris police officers responded to reports of a possibly intoxicated driver in the 5200 block of Lamar Avenue.

“The caller reported that a yellow box truck was driving all over the roadway and had struck some vehicles while approaching the city limits of Paris,”  said Curtis Garrett of the Paris Police Department. “When the officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the vehicle sped up and passed other vehicles on the shoulder and the left lane of the roadway.”

Officers continued to pursue the vehicle westbound and were eventually able to get the vehicle stopped in the 8400 block of State Highway 82 West.

The driver, 36-year-old Jason Lenard Kirksey of Dallas, was arrested and charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. He was later transferred to Lamar County Jail.
