Early voting for a $16 million bond package for Prairiland Independent School District begins Monday, April 25, 2022. The district will host a public meeting tonight, April 21, 2022, at 6 p.m. in the high school gym to answer questions regarding the bond election.

The package for the district will be used to fund a new career and technology center, along with a multi-purpose indoor athletic facility. According to Superintendent Jeff Ballard, taxes will not see an increase as a result.

The proposed CTE will provide agriculture, workforce-related classes, a veterinary technical lab, floral design lab, metal shop, woodshop, greenhouse, and a health science program. In addition, there will be a culinary arts lab, child development classes, and principles of human services within its family and consumer sciences.

The multipurpose athletic facility will house boys’ and girls’ dressing rooms, a weight room, training rooms, coaches’ officers, and an indoor workout facility with turf.

Early voting begins April 25, 2022, and runs through May 3, 2022, from 8 a.m. till 4 p.m. in the administration office. Election day is May 7.
