Belton
GOOD. Water lightly stained; 60 degrees; 3.50 feet low. Lack of flow in all tributaries has kept fish in the reservoir this spring. The water has warmed to 60 degrees or more above the 30 foot level, and most of the fishing is taking place in increasingly shallow water for that reason. White bass fishing has been excellent in the first 3 hours of the morning and last 2 hours prior to sunset. When the fish are spread horizontally in shallow water, the MAL Heavy Lure with silver blade and chartreuse tail has been the bait of choice. If fish are heavily grouped together in deeper, cooler water, the 5/8 ounce, white, Bladed Hazy Eye Slab has worked well. Report by Bob Maindelle, Holding the Line Guide Service. Crappie are good in the coves and creeks in 1-4 feet of water using the ATX Lure Company wicked shad 2.25 inch paired with Dan’s Jigs 1/16 ounce jighead. Report by Zach Minnix, Jig N’ Jerk Guide Service.

White bass are fair around the mouths of creeks on small slabs. Catfish are good on cut baits.
Bob Sandlin
GOOD. Water clear; 60 degrees; 0.84 feet low. Spring pattern is locked in and the fish are biting well. The cold snap may slow the bite, but it should pick back up. Report by Marty Thomas, Lake O the Pines Crappie Fishing.
Brady

Red drum have been excellent for shoreline anglers and boaters alike, using crawfish and live perch, trolling and casting dark colored soft plastics and crankbaits. Largemouth bass have been good around shorelines with reeds or structure on dark colored soft plastics and spinnerbaits. Catfish have been good on cheese bait, minnows, and worms.
Bridgeport
GOOD. Water normal stain; 62 degrees; 4.53 feet low. Sand Bass and hybrid striped bass are feeding off and on throughout the day. The north end has had some pretty good action mid morning around working birds. For now, deadsticking has been very effective, and the slab bite should pick up pretty quickly. Largemouth bass are heading toward their spawn. Check out points at the entrances to big coves. Craw colored crankbaits and craw soft plastics have been producing well. Crappie have certainly moved shallow, especially in the north end. Try dipping some minnows around the shallow cover between docks. The spawn will continue moving south as it gets warmer. Look for blue catfish to move up shallower near old timber where cormorants roost using cut shad. Report by Keith Bunch, Lake Bridgeport Guide Service.

Crappie are good in 3-15 feet of water on jigs and live bait. Report by Jess Rotherham, Texas Crappie Fishing Service.
Caddo
SLOW. Water stained; 67 degrees; 1.68 feet high. The lake level on Caddo has fallen some, and we have had a large population of bass spawned out so the bite has slowed. Reports of big trophy catches being caught here and there, but for most the bite is slow with some numbers still being caught on flukes and wacky worms with natural colors in clear and dark colors in stained water. Few are hitting top waters now around the trees, and that will only improve as the bream start bedding and the temperatures get hotter. Still a good time when you get to come to Caddo and enjoy this majestic lake that God spoke into existence even if the bite is slow. Report provided by Vince Richards, Caddo Lake Fishing & Fellowship

Hybrid bass are schooling in 19-27 feet of water trolling with a hellbender and a pet spoon, or using your electronics to find them. Many have had success near the 1097 bridge. Some crappie are spawning in the shallows. We had success this week on ones that have already spawn in 14-27 feet of water using white/chartreuse hair jigs from Lone Star Crappie Jigs, as well as black/chartreuse plastics from Constant Pursuit Outfitters & Miss Bacon Baits on standing timber, lay downs, and brush piles. Not getting many hits on minnows in the deeper water. Black bass continue to be good with multiple buck bass biting creature baits on beds in 3-8 feet of water early morning. Transition into deeper water in the afternoon with creature baits and RatLTraps. Always wear your life jacket. Report by Mike Cason, Fishical Therapy Lake Conroe Fishing Guide.

Cypress Springs
Water stained; 60 degrees; 2.42 feet low. Warm spring weather has had the surface temps on the rise. Main lake temperature currently sits in the low 60’s while shallow water temps have risen to the lower 70’s. These increasing temperatures will have the fish on the move in the shallows looking for spawning areas. As the bass move up to spawn they will become protective of bedding areas. Sunfish will typically move up looking to feed on the eggs and the hatchlings. Use baits such as shallow running crankbaits in a perch pattern to target these fish. Crappie will be in large groups up shallow as well. Where you catch one, you can typically catch several. Remember though that these fish are reproducing so if you are keeping fish, only take what you need. Jigs or minnows under a slip cork will be key. The channel catfish will be moving up as well. Use soured grain or range cubes to bait the area and then come back a few hours later, or preferably the next day and use a cork rig to suspend your prepared bait. Such as dough or punch style baits. Report by Captain Mike Thompson, Lake Tawakoni Guide Service.
Eagle Mountain
GOOD. Water normally stained, 66 degrees; 3.17 feet low. White bass are good in creeks and in the river as well as on main lake points in shallow water on Johnson Min-O-Spins and Roadrunners. Some fish are being reported caught shallow in pre-spawn staging areas. Largemouth bass are fair to good on crankbaits around docks and main lake structure. Blue catfish are good on cut bait drift fishing and anchored in mid-depths and shallow as long as there is steady wind. Water levels have been dropping quickly, exercise caution as shallow mudflats and other shallow areas are starting to present hazards. Report provided by Chad Ferguson of North Texas Catfish Guide Service and Catfish Edge.

Our spring pattern has finally arrived and we are catching fish in the trees on the north ends of the lake in 5-15 feet of water. Fish are moving north in 15-25 feet of water on trees along creek channels and the mouths of coves and creeks, with the best bite in 10-11 feet at the base of trees. Catching good numbers of fish on lay downs under 10 feet of water on slip bobbers set 3-5 feet deep with minnows. Many reports of fish in 1-2 feet of water in the last few hours of daylight. The buck bass are bedding and the female should move up on the next full moon. The magic spawn temperature for a bass is 68-72 degrees. The weather forecast says that rain is on its way again. After a rainfall, head to the back of the creeks and find clear, shallow, calm and stable water out of the current. The bass will be feeding in the new vegetation along the banks where insects and bugs have washed into the lake. Use topwater imitations like popping frogs, buzz baits, spinnerbaits, wacky worms, lizards, and don’t forget them swim jigs and BIG swimbaits. The Crappie are hitting the banks now, in 2-5 feet of water biting on live minnows under a slip cork rig, roadrunner style bladed jigs and plastics with or without an indicator. Best colors for plastics are monkey milk, bluegrass blue and chartreuse. Fly fishers are casting a white/red collar fly jig and a white/chartreuse Clouser minnow. The magic spawn temperature for the crappie is 65 degrees. Catfish are still holding in 2-4 feet of water early in the mornings at the base of cypress trees mid lake. The catfish are biting on a slip cork rig from first light to 8:30 A.M. with shrimp, chicken livers and Captain’s garlic (chicken flavored) weenies. The air is crisp, and the campfires are warm so get the family and go fishing for those good times and wonderful memories! Remember to always keep your life jack on while on the water because the water is cold, and hypothermia is dangerous. Good luck and tight lines!
