RECALL: Beef jerky recalled due to Listeria concerns
File / eExtra News
The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced the recall of 83 different beef jerky products that may be “adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes.”
Boyd Specialties LLC, of Canton, said the recall affects nearly 1,634 pounds of jerky products that were shipped to various states, including Texas. The affected products include 15 different flavors sold under more than 20 different brands.
According to the FSIS, inspectors with the Food Safety Inspection Service were made aware of the possible contamination after performing a routine follow-up procedure on a sample, which tested positive for Listeria.
Those who believe they are affected by the recall are encouraged to return it for a refund or discard it immediately. All of the products, which were produced on Feb. 23, 2022, bear the establishment number “EST. 40269” on the USDA mark of inspection.
