Dr. Pat O’Neal Cox, 89, of Sulphur Springs passed away in peace in the earlier hours of February 28, 2022.

A funeral service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery Pavilion on Wednesday, March 2 at 2:00 PM with visitation one hour prior at Evergreen.

Pat, the son of Louis Andrew and Minnie Loraine Cox was born October 7, 1932, in Heavener, Oklahoma. He attended Independence Grade School 1-8, and graduated from Heavener High School in 1950. He earned an Associate’s Degree from Eastern A&M Jr. College in Wilburton, Ok in 1954 and a B.S. in Education from University of Oklahoma in Norman in 1956, DOS degree from the University of Tennessee in Memphis 1961 and his master’s in Dentistry from University of St. Louis Orthodontic School in 1970.

Pat proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 in the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged as Sgt. First Class.

Pat married Camilla Bohreer in Wilburton, Oklahoma on December 23, 1955, and the pair had three sons; Scott, Todd and Jon.

He taught math, science and coached football for Labette County Community High School in Altamont, Kansas before going to Dental School. He practiced general dentistry in Hugo, Ok before going back to specialize in Orthodontics. He later opened his first Orthodontic Office in Plano, TX and was their first board-certified Orthodontist in 1970. His dentistry and Orthodontic practices spanned over 40 years in Hugo, Plano and Paris Offices. He loved his job of making each patient’s smile perfect and beautiful to last a lifetime.

He owned ranches in Hugo and around the Paris area for over 50 years and enjoyed being around cattle and all kinds of animals. Son Scott worked along with him and together they set up Cox Ranch with quality cattle on acreage South of Paris. His favorite were the F-1 Tiger Stripes and Brahamas.

The ranch was sold in 2015 and the and Camilla moved to Sulpher Springs to the Wesley House Cottages.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Camilla; sons, Scott Cox and wife, Penny of Paris, Dr. Jon Cox and wife, Jayme of Tulsa; Grandchildren, Jackson Cox, Kennedy Cox and Tucker Cox; sisters, Kay Cox of Grand Prairie ; brother, Mike Cox and wife, Lisa of Heavener, Ok; brother-in-law, Dave Bohreer and wife, Kim of Cartwright, OK; nieces, Terri Winters, Toni Mathis, Marilyn Crocker, Savana Durchel, Emily Cox and Shelia Juarez; nephews, Johnny Cox, Shawn Williams, Joel Cox, Mikel Cox, David Alan Bohreer and Steve Bohreer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Todd Allen Cox; brothers, Charles, Jack and Jerry Cox; sister, Mary Ann Cox; and father and mother-in-law, Jack and Madalyn Bohreer.

He and Camilla were married 66 years. God graciously blessed them throughout their journey. They met lots of special friends and had many interesting and amazing experiences along the way.
