A parade and program honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. are set for Saturday in Paris.

The parade lineup starts at 10:30 a.m. at MLK Jr. Drive and 20th Street N.E. This year, the theme is “Everybody can be great because everybody can serve Dr. Martin L. King,” The parade will begin half an hour later, at 11 a.m.

The route starts at MLK Jr. Drive and 20th Street N.E. and will move down MLK to Fitzhugh Avenue. From there, parade participants will turn left and then take a right on Tudor Street to 3rd Street N.E. Then, they will take a left before moving right on Lamar, then right on N. Main Street, and another right on Fitzhugh Avenue, where the parade will end at PJ’s.

Following the parade, the MLK Jr program will begin wherein there will be a recognition ceremony for community workers. In addition, the Paris Dance Team will perform. Food will be served at PJ’s and door prizes will be available.

Best floats will receive prizes and there will be a science fair for kids where the first-place winner will get $150, the second-place winner gets $50, and the third-place winner gets a trophy.
