Paris Animal Shelter recently announced officials will close the shelter to the public “due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic.” All adoptions will have to be made by appointment only.

“We apologize for this inconvenience, but it is for the safety of the public as well as the safety of our employees,” Paris Police Animal Control Supervisor Terry Bull said. “Once this crisis has passed, we will resume normal operations. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.”

Anyone who wishes to adopt an animal can contact the Lamar County Humane Association to set up an appointment for viewing or adoption by calling 903-784-6774. Those who do have an appointment are encouraged to wear a mask.

Those who are trying to find their missing animal are asked to provide a description or photo of the missing animal to staff, who will then check for the animal in the shelter themselves.
