Joe Exotic, of “Tiger King,” is set to be resentenced on Jan. 28, 2022, for his role in the murder-for-hire plot against his nemesis, Carole Baskin.

U.S. District Judge Scott Palk granted a request by Joe Exotic, whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage, to be taken to Oklahoma City for the hearing.

According to reports, a federal appeals court ruled in July that Exotic should get a shorter sentence. CBS DFW reported the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit in Denver determined the trial court wrongly treated two murder-for-hire convictions separately in calculating his prison term.

In January of 2020, Exotic was sentenced to 22 years in prison, but the appeals court said the original court should have calculated his advisory sentencing range to between 17.5-22 years in prison, rather than 22-27 years.

Exotic maintains his innocence and was also sentenced for killing five tigers, selling tiger cubs, and falsifying wildlife records.
