REGIONAL: SWAT responds to standoff at car dealership in Rockwall
File / Mugshot
A SWAT team was deployed to a car dealership in Rockwall after a police standoff began Wednesday.
The incident began shortly before 3 p.m. at the Clay Cooley Hyundai dealership off of I-30 when law enforcement officers attempted to serve felony arrest warrants on a suspect at the dealership.
Willie Jermaine Weekley, 37, was wanted for two counts of Family Violence/Violation of a Protective Order out of Royse City. Reportedly, when officers arrived, Weekley hid from them. During this time, he allegedly called the person he’s accused of hurting and told her he was going to kill police officers if they tried to take him into custody, and he would kill her if he got away.
The officers then called for the Rockwall SWAT team, who quickly responded to the dealership.
Eventually, Weekley was found hiding inside one of the vehicles at the dealership and was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into Hunt County Detention Center.
