Joe Bill Dawes, 76, of Arthur City Texas, went to be with our Lord on January 1, 2022. The family is deeply saddened by his passing. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday,  January 4, 2022, in the Little John Cemetery with Rev. Mickey Kelley officiating.

Joe Bill was born December 26, 1945, to parents Frankie and Virgie Dawes in Grant Oklahoma.

Joe Bill spent 30 years as a bus driver for NLISDS. After retiring in 2014, he moved his miles from bus to mule racking up 25,000 plus miles all over Chicota, TX. He and his furry passengers thoroughly enjoyed stopping and visiting with those they met along the way.

Anyone who knew Joe Bill was touched by his kindness and humor. He never met a stranger; everyone was welcome on his front porch. Greatly loved, he will always be remembered.

He is preceded by parents Frankie and Virgie Dawes, one son Stanley Joe Dawes, two sisters, one brother, and two nieces.

He is survived 57 beautiful years by his wife Julia Dawes, one son Calvin and wife Lisa Dawes, one daughter Cinda and husband Shannon Graham, grandchildren Donivan and wife Lisa Graham, Rebecca Graham, Tiffany and husband Seth Spangler, Joseph Dawes, Karlie Dawes, and three great-grandchildren. One can’t go without mentioning his three furry, four-legged “children” Maddie, Peanut, and Sandy.

The Dawes family will have a meal and celebrate the life of Joe Bill Dawes after the graveside service at the Chicoata Community Center.
