The 2025 spring severe weather season is not too far away, and the National Weather Service and local public safety officials want you to be ready. The National Weather Service (NWS) Office located in Fort Worth will be conducting a free Severe Weather Education class in Lamar County on Monday, February 10th, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Paris Fire Department, Station #1. “Man with a Gun” Charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm
The Paris Police Department received a man with a gun call at 1:31 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at a store in the 200 block of 1st St. SW. Officers arrived in less than thirty seconds and took the suspect, who had been tackled by some employees of the business, into custody. Officers determined the scene to be secure but closed the area around the store as a precaution. City of Paris announces annual water line maintenance and fire hydrant grading projects
During February, the City of Paris Water Utilities Department will temporarily change the process used to treat water and the Paris Fire Department will begin annual fire hydrant grading. The projects are part of regular water supply system maintenance. The water remains safe to drink and for laundry, hygiene, and other uses. The Paris Water Utilities Department commonly treats water with the widely used disinfectant Chloramine. Chloramine is a combination of free chlorine and ammonia. Reno Man Pleads Guilty to Child Sexual Abuse, Sentenced to Over 1,000 Years in Prison
On Monday, January 27th, Montana Lee Schneider, 40, pleaded guilty before a jury to 81 counts of child sexual abuse, possession of child pornography, and producing child pornography, according to First Assistant District Attorney Benjamin I. Kaminar. After hearing punishment evidence, the jury returned life sentences on two first degree felony counts and sentences totaling 910 years on the other 79 counts. The jury also assessed the maximum fine of $10,000 on each count.
