Hawk Cove Mayor and Two City Council Members Arrested

The Mayor, Delores Spence, and two Council members, Mark Beatte Place Four and Rebecca Bernardi Place One, of Hawk Cove turned themselves in at the Hunt County Detention Center for warrants issued by the State of Texas Attorney General’s Office. All three are charged with one count of violating open meeting act (Class C misdemeanor) and one charge of conspiracy to circumvent/secret meeting (Class C misdemeanor). Bond has been set for $25,000 for each charge. The State Attorney General’s Office secured a sealed indictment against the three elected officials. Tuesday the three were served with civil notifications resulting from a petition for removal brought by former Mayor Darren Evans and former city council member Amanda Bodiford.
