uperintendent Boothe announces retirement after 2 decades of service in Texas Public Schools

With 20 years of service in Texas public schools, and 7 years as deputy superintendent and superintendent of Greenville ISD, Sharon Boothe announced her retirement today. Ms. Boothe will continue to serve the district as superintendent through the end of the current semester and support the school board with a pending leadership transition through January 2024. The Board of Trustees will begin discussions about the superintendent search and future leader of Greenville ISD. An interim superintendent will be named soon and will join GISD in December 2023.

“Serving the students, staff and community of Greenville ISD has been an amazing journey. I am so proud of the students’ successes and of this GISD staff for their commitment and dedication to the aspirations of every student,” said Ms. Boothe. “I’m thankful to the school board members throughout the years as well as the community leaders who have shown loyalty and support to our schools. Our district and campus leadership team are second to none and I can’t wait to see what successes lie ahead for students, staff and community!”

Board President Aletha Kruse said, “As sad as I was to receive Sharon’s letter of retirement, I also respect her decision. She has dedicated 7 years of her life to GISD – some of which were through some of the toughest education has ever been through. Her tireless effort and devotion to GISD will be greatly missed. Our board wishes Ms. Boothe a well-deserved retirement.”

The Greenville ISD School Board and district will update the community on the superintendent search including opportunities for input on what matters most locally on this important selection process.
