The I-30 work zone over Lake Ray Hubbard is expanding, as a third and final improvement project gets underway in the corridor. Drivers are urged to plan ahead for extra travel time to help traffic safely navigate through these adjacent work zones.
A $348 million project to improve I-30 from SH 205 to the Hunt County will begin Friday, Sept. 22, 2023. Crews will be doing preliminary work outside the main lanes of traffic. While there aren’t significant impacts to traffic anticipated at this time, short-term daily lane closures on I-30 may be scheduled between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. as needed, and those will be announced on drivetexas.org.
As progress continues on all projects, any major scheduled closures will be announced in advance. The I-30 between SH 205 and the Hunt County project was awarded to Williams Brothers Construction Co. The project will construct continuous frontage roads and widen the existing main lanes from six to eight lanes. There will also be improvements to ramps and interchange configurations. Construction is anticipated to be completed in late 2027. The work is part of TxDOT’s Texas Clear Lanes effort to relieve congestion in major metropolitan areas.
