Greenville PD locates stranded person in drainage bed with thermal vision

On July 18, 2023, the Greenville Police Department dispatch received a call of a possible person stranded in a creek/drainage bed.
The individual was exposed to the elements for several hours. Greenville Police and Fire responded to the area to find there was no natural or manmade access for emergency vehicles to get to the stranded individual.
At this time GPD made the quick decision to deploy one of the departmental drones to assist in locating the individual. Through the use of this technology, the officer was able to locate the individual with a thermal visual and communicate via speaker from the drone to keep the scene calm and assure the individual help was on the way.
