Mary Irene Bedell Newkirk age 80, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on July 9, 2022.

Irene was born January 23, 1942, to Lister and Zelma (Eatinger) Bedell. Irene married Jerry Alexander in 1961 and had two daughters. Later in life, she married  Clarence “Curly” Newkirk and spent 31 years together before his death. She worked at Pantex for twenty+ years before her early retirement to HSV, Arkansas. She was a Girl Scout leader for several years and she enjoyed being a part of the Square Dance club. She enjoyed working outside in the yard and flowerbeds, spending time with her grands and doing things with her hands such as puzzles, board games and sewing. She will be remembered fondly for her servant’s heart and caring nature.

She is survived by her daughter; Kristy Alexander Venhaus, sister; June Bedell, brothers; Russell Bedell and wife Elizabeth, and Allen Bedell and wife Jan, 10 nieces and nephews, 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Irene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother Charles Bedell, niece Jeneè Bedell and daughter Kimberly Alexander.

Family and friends will have a Celebration of Life Gathering at a future date to be determined.
