Wanda E. Williams, 94 of Cumby went to her heavenly home on June 3, 2022.
She was born on February 24, 1928, in Cumby to her mother and father; Arthur Eddins and Corien Eddens. She is preceded in death by her parents, uncle “Yank” Strickland and aunt, Connie “Pip” Strickland.
She is survived by her son, Steve Williams, grandson Zac Williams and wife Dara Williams, great-grandson, Declan Williams, granddaughter, Halsey Williams and a host of cousins and friends.
Wanda attended Cumby schools and after graduation she began her work career at the Cumby Telephone Company. She took an early retirement and began to explore the world. She traveled all over the world with friends and her beloved Red Hat Society.
Wanda loved to cook and entertain. She hosted many parties, showers and holiday parties in her home over the years. One of her specialities was her Mini Pecan Pies. You could always count on them being on the menu or delivering dozens to her grandson’s baseball games.
Wanda loved to garden and tend to her yard. She also looked forward to football season and watching her Dallas Cowboys. She was never a fair-weather fan either; always loyal.
She attended several churches of different faiths in Cumby and the surrounding area as her walk with God was very important to her. She would always say she liked to cover her bases. She was a member of the Cumby United Methodist Church.
Wanda had a wonderful and wicked sense of humor. Her laugh and antics will be missed by many.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 9, 2022, beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Coker Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. conducted by Pastor Fred Lewis out of Sulphur Springs and she will be laid to rest at Friendship Cemetery in Campbell.
