More than 90 Greenville High School students pushed themselves to achieve the high academic honor of being named superintendent scholars this school year.
The 92 superintendent scholars are listed in this program (https://bit.ly/3sIaQyO), along with 19 GHS students who served on the Superintendent Student Advisory Council.
The Superintendent Scholar program emphasizes core courses that are taken by most students. Students in grades 9-10 must take at least five of the required courses each year, and only those courses count toward Superintendent Scholar recognition. Students in grades 11-12 must take at least four required courses each year, and only those courses count towards Superintendent Scholar. Students must make at least a 90 average or an 85 average with a minimum of 50 documented hours of community service during the first three grading periods of each school year. Scholar courses include English I, II, III and IV, Business English, Algebra I and II, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus AP, College Algebra, College Math Prep, Statistics, Integrated Physics & Chemistry (IPC), Biology, Chemistry, Advanced Animal Science, Physics, Anatomy & Physiology, World History, Economics, Government, U.S. History, Political Science, ISM, and Foreign Languages I, II, III, and IV.
Congratulations to these outstanding students, who were honored May 17. The program was led by GISD Superintendent Sharon Boothe and GHS Principal Dr. Brant Perry. A huge thank you goes out to the students’ families, who play an important role in their success.
